We've eleven good individual players on the pitch. Some of them very good.
Not quite a team though.
Hoping we click in the second half.
Can’t lose sight of the fact that this is a scratch side made up of several players starting their first competitive games in 6 months or more.

I’d be amazed if it did look fluent.

How is Broja playing?
Not had much of the ball but a nice awareness for the assist.

He’s picked the right set of players, minutes in the legs and all that.

On Edwards - he’s been inside quite often with no overlap from Sonne, convesting the middle up and not receiving the ball. When he has got the ball he’s offered nothing. Nice pass in the build up to the goal but very sloppy and looks uninterested

Edwards’ lack of tracking back for their goal is exactly why he isn’t starting in the Prem.

I don't like singling out players but I have been watching Edwards defensive contribution, to try and understand why a player with so much quality can't get a start.

Standing next to the player or jogging within 5 yards of them isn't defending.

Sadly, that first half explains why SP can't trust him at PL level.

Hopefully someone on the coaching team can get hold of him and make him into the player he should be, as even the top attackers know how to defend, in fact that's what usually makes them top players.

Some of these players if they had the full package they wouldn’t be with us. All are lacking something and that is something we already know, but they have exceptional skillsets too. Broja the possible exception, looks to be playing at half pace and within himself. I hope that is by design.

Laurent has been good but it is him, Flemming, Sonne and Worrall who you sense are Championship players regardless of form. They’ll all get a few PL minutes though but I don’t expect trees to be pulled up.

To be fair a diagonal ball across is easy even if the winger is tracking back (which he was belatedly attempting). Our fullback was nowhere. The error was the defenders letting the attacker take the ball and score. Worrall was on his heels.

Ah well, if they train together every day, we should absolutely expect the maximum out of them when they are formed into this particular XI for the very first time. We should particularly expect Broja, Humphrey and Ramsey to be at the top of their form in their first starts in 6 months.

Can’t see Edwards having any effect in the premier league at all, not much pace and certainly not strong enough. Just my opinion but Iv seen enough of him since he joined to think he’s bang average.

Can’t see Edwards starting too many PL games. Too much of a luxury player and the contrast between him and Anthony (and to a lesser extent a winger like JBL) is chalk and cheese. Just doesn’t do enough of the gritty defensive stuff, and we just can’t be in a position to be carrying any players.

Yep.

Probably just a coincidence we starting scoring and winning regularly once he got a place in the team.

That was doubling up every game that meant somebody else was unmarked.

But yes of course we want a few more of each. Shooting a bit earlier in my view.
