More than 1,200 jobs could be at risk from the closure of a major distribution site in Burnley.
Retailer Debenhams has said it plans to close its site on the Heasandford Industrial Estate and "gradually transfer" its online distributions centre operations to Sheffield.
The brand, which was bought by Boohoo in 2021, said it would "explore opportunities for colleagues to remain with the business".

Awful news.
Suspect the economic outlook for the country is going to get a lot, lot worse in the next few years too.

Sounds like its their own business plan has come back to haunt them. Selling cheap crap clothes which are very often returned under free returns policy. Assos are having the same issues. They are now cutting any costs and corners any way they can, which in this case is man power to take advantage of the automated Sheffield distribution site.
