I don’t understand the Foster disallowed goal. What is that diagram? So his arm is offside? But he can’t score with his arm…

Imagine that decision at the other end at that time, what does the ref do in front of 75,000 people? Absolutely nothing.

Let's see how many are given this season where a foul starts 6 yards from the box but the player's legs only fail once they cross the chalk.
Sustained shirt pull, my arse.

According to Sky, Foster's goal was disallowed because his shirt sleeve was cm's offside. If we didn't have the automated line calling it would probably have been allowed.

Re: THE SUPER CLARETS vs Man U - Match Thread
Hard to argue that United didn't deserve the win over the 90 minutes but disappointing that 2 massively marginal decisions could have seen it go the other way.
Plenty to take from the game, but also a few concerns about how much trouble United's front three and wingbacks caused us, particularly in the first half.

Was it the only shirt-pull in the whole game? There is zero consistency
Re: THE SUPER CLARETS vs Man U - Match Thread
For me the pull didn't continue into the area? So maybe he does know the rules?

Anybody notice Worrall being dragged to ground by a shirt pull as pen was being taken ? Anybody else think Walker won the ball when ref gave a Fk leading to first goal ? Foster disallowed looked a fraction off but how do we know the cartoon characters used in the decision are correct ?

Annoying after coming back so well. It was always going to happen though wasn’t it.
It was a penalty all day long - you can’t be pulling shirts like that.

I want to see the disallowed goal for off side again. The brief animation they showed was the Man U player playing us onside with his elbow.
Re: THE SUPER CLARETS vs Man U - Match Thread
Without a doubt it was a clear win for Walker. Ref was either suckered or under orders to ensure opportunities go the way of them. Car certainly made sure.munkyennui wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 5:29 pmWalker won the ball that free kick. Worrall is having shirt pulled prior to penalty being taken.
'Sustaine tugging' what'sthat all about. Other way and they all scream that it started outside the box.

It was all fairly predictable wasn't it. A United win with a last-gasp penalty. We've seen it countless times before. It almost begs the question whether the outcome was pre-determined and just ever-so-gently guided by the officials.

Re: THE SUPER CLARETS vs Man U - Match Thread
We have now lost to both teams who finished 17th and 16th last season.
Spurs tore us apart and Bournemouth have beat them. We are miles off. Beating Sunderland isn’t enough. We need to beat others who will be in the bottom 2/3 of the table.
Anyway, at least the championship has no var.

The annoying thing about the result is you can't survive on getting points just against the teams around you. We've thrown away what could be a valuable point at the end of the season.

In truth, this is the only sensible outlook. We won't change the big club ableism. We need to be more clever. I'm not having a go at Anthony, it's a collective growth.

Re: THE SUPER CLARETS vs Man U - Match Thread
Its either a pen or a Maguire header at the end-was always going to be the case.
I know we were the subject of two disputed decisions, however we could easily have lost by 4 or 5 more goals today. Had that happened we would be being critical of our defending. The focus on these decisions is masking our defending particularly in the first half
Plenty there for Parker and the coaches to work on, not least our defending at set pieces-3 United players unmarked for the first goal, and game management

Re: THE SUPER CLARETS vs Man U - Match Thread
Today summed up why the Championship is a better league. Once again we were to respectful at the start and gave them the chance to really get at us. We could have been 3, 4 or 5 down but decisions went against us. Despite that (and beating in mind the new players) we fought back well and on the second half showing we would have been worth a draw. The new players seem more suited to the physical challenge than the ones two seasons ago and on passages of play we looked like we have enough about us to survive. I detest Fernandes - he is a typical big club player and United had plenty of them appealing for everything yet also not afraid to shove and biggie away. As others have said it was always going to be something controversial to give them the points but I still think we are stronger than we were under Kompany and have several talents that will become crowd favourites.

Let's not forget that Anthony scored again today and played well. We could have lost that game in a dozen ways but we're getting there

28 shots Utd had. We were way too open, hopefully the DM from Benfica will help. The most worrying thing about today was are total lack of marking from set pieces. So many times games are decided by set plays. If we don't rectify this we will go down easily.

I was watching on Irish Premier channel and comms said refs have been told to look for going down to easy. As the man said if my jersey was pulled like that my legs wouldn’t crumble.
Still a dreadful decision by Anthony to give him a chance to give the pen.

Still waiting for the traffic to calm down so having some grub in around the Lowrey
1st half - dreadful but they had a point to prove
2nd half - we were the better team
Gutted not to get something but on balance … Sunderland and Leeds most likely will walk away from OT with 0 points
We are showing we are not relegation fodder in this league

First half dreadful lucky not to be out of sight (not sure 5 at back works for us).
Second half thought we were superb and well worthy of a point. Cracking atmosphere in away end.

We need to start games much less timid than we have so far, even against Sunderland we could have been behind early doors .
I don’t think we are a million miles off being competitive off the first three games viewing.
If we can add a couple more quality additions in the next two days we have a chance .

Re: THE SUPER CLARETS vs Man U - Match Thread
This has been troubling me all day.
Their first goal, from the free kick that wasn't a free kick, bounced off Cullen, and given as a goal by the 'goal line technology' sending the signal to the ref that it was over the line. Now normally, in fact, always, they show us the pictures or graphics that show that the ball was in fact over the line. Not today. Not watching the match on TV or in replays or even on Match of the day. It was, in my mind, conspicuous by its absence.
I know, I'm clutching at straws, but it all adds to the feeling of being a little bit cheated today.
