Re: General Info - Manchester City (a)
What would be the best tram stop in the city centre to get to the Etihad before the game? We’ll end up walking back after the game but have always got an uber previously.

The tram goes through Piccadilly station so you have options such as St Peter’s Square or Piccadilly Gardens.
As for walking back, even I managed that after our last afternoon game there.

It was a few years ago now but we were drinking in Moon under water before going City. Our group got split up.
Two of us got a black cab from accross the road for 6 quid. A few got the overcrowded tram from piccadilly gardens and a few jumped on the buses from piccadilly.
I would get a taxi again if two or more of you.

Re: General Info - Manchester City (a)
Better to drink in the Northern quarter and get Joe Baxi or walk from there

I think it is fair to say that the trams get somewhat busyQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 9:35 pmIt was a few years ago now but we were drinking in Moon under water before going City. Our group got split up.

…it is better to travel hopefully than arrive
Re: General Info - Manchester City (a)
Special buses run back to Piccadilly Gardens after the game.
As you exit the away end turn right at the main road then cross over the road.
You will see the buses lined up further down that road.

Re: General Info - Manchester City (a)
I remember talking to a city fan as we trudged back after a usual 5 nil defeat. He insisted the foul on Aaron lennon was something and nothing and that the ball didn't go out of play when it was crossed in for their second goal(it did go out.)Transpennine wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 3:35 pmWe do that every time. We're usually having a pint in the Crown and Kettle before half time....
Im not bothering going this year as I cant be arsed with it

You can walk to Etihad from city centre. Takes about 15 minutes from Norther Quarter
Just follow the crowds

Re: General Info - Manchester City (a)
The trendy northern zone and Ancoats are both sound for a pint, there’s a decent crawl to be had.
Nearest place to the ground is Diecast, a former metalworks on Ducie Street, which has a decent selection for a big gaff. Food is good enough too. 15-20 mins walk to the etihad, just over great ancoats and up pollard st.

Re: General Info - Manchester City (a)
They trialled a new fan zone last week at Co-op Live’s new Canalside space and it was home fans only. That might have had something to do with their opponents last week though.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 1:08 pmEither the Northern Quarter or the Fan Zone around the ground. I'd suspect that's in addition to the other beer and food stands around the ground, though?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 2:25 pmThey trialled a new fan zone last week at Co-op Live’s new Canalside space and it was home fans only. The only decent thing about City away is the choice of drinking establishments.Hbclaret007 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 26, 2025 7:58 amWe're walking from the city centre to the ethiad tomorrow. Can anyone recommend any good pubs for a swift half or two, in the city or en route? Cheers
Train to Victoria
Pint in the Victoria tap.
Walk up to shudehill and the Old Turks Head -its a Joey Holts pub, but still decent.
Northern quarter/Ancoats- spoilt for choice - Castle, Port Street Beer House and the Crown and Kettle.
Then walk to the ground from there.
Enjoy.

Re: General Info - Manchester City (a)
Some good shouts on here for ale houses, Abel Heywood is a good gaff, Port St etc.
A couple that haven't been mentioned on the east side of Piccadilly so en route to the ground are Track Brewing and Cloudwater brewery, they are within 100 yards of each other.
A shout out for Cask next to the canal in Ancoats as well.

Re: General Info - Manchester City (a)
Good point it’s easy to forget they have loads of buses to ferry fans back lined up where we exit . Worth noting though they can take ages and it’s quicker to walk back if able .

If you come off after 5th goal you can get on no probs, wait till final whistle and it's quicker to walk back.
