With the players at his disposal, and considering in one of the finals we were 1-0 up at home against a poor Italian side and STILL managed to lose it, it’s a phenomenal under achievement in my book.
But this is all about opinion.

We could bang on about the Gerrard and Lampard but it would bore us all to tears.

What fuss? A bit of a discussion on a footy message board?

Wake up to yourself. Anybody does anything even remotely passionate with the Union Jack/flag of St George and nutters can’t help but scream RIGHT WING!!!!

Take some time off and study history before telling me what to do.

Give it a rest ya drama queen… someone puts some flags up and paints a couple of roundabouts and it’s the fourth reich?

“Oooh, someone put flags up in 1933 and look what happened next!!”

Saxons - German
Angles - German
Royal family - German

There's some history.

Spot on Colburn Claret these lesser teams need their own league prior to the winner progressing to face the more developed team All meaningless freindlies want binning too 3 weeks into the season stopping for international breaks is stupid and we have more interruptions to our league programme before Xmas.FIFA nonsense of global development .

Poor teams don't win the European Championships surely?

Ditto the 2018 WC semi v Croatia. Both matches thrown away with over-cautious, negative football against teams we would’ve beaten easily if we’d played to our strengths. It should also be remembered that Southgate was blessed with some freakishly easy draws.

Freakishly easy draws from an England POV … it’s not the POV of the rest of the world.

We over rate our players compared to other nations

We have great players … but so do other countries.

Man City and Liverpool have been the power houses in the PL over the last few seasons but you have Arsenal Fans thinking they should be winning the league … it’s only arsenal fans that think that …

Outside fans think they could win the league but most likely they won’t

England are a bit like Arsenal …. They can win something … they always have a chance … amazing players but likley they won’t … because other teams have great players too and are a little bit stronger

Sometimes teams like Aston Villa or Brighton or Bournemouth beat these top teams … too

It happens

My opinion has been for sometime that until England win something that it’s not unreasonable to suggest that England’s best available players are overrated.

I also believe they are somewhat spoilt at club level with the quality of foreign talent they all play alongside for their respective clubs which obviously can’t be replicated playing for England.

At the moment it’s hard to judge where England are at, although the Senegal game might have been a more accurate yardstick than the recent qualifiers against amateurs.

Sadly, we may have already seen the peak of this current squad and I wouldn’t be surprised if we struggle at the next World Cup, especially with the extreme heat playing conditions.

I hope I am wrong but if not then we will certainly have a good crop of players hitting their peaks with some exciting talents coming through. Whether they are/will be world beaters remains to be seen…….
