I first spotted the limp on the day the fixtures came out and to be honest I was amazed that he got on the pitch in one of the behind closed doors friendlies. I’ve no idea what the injury was but it’s coming up to 21 months since he last played.

Jesus wept, he was in that clip for about half a second, if that. What do you want the club to do? Keep him locked away in a tower? Then you’ve have people questioning why the club never feature him.

The centre-back hasn’t featured in any of Burnley’s recent friendlies, however, and manager Scott Parker has now revealed Beyer has suffered another bump in the road.

"Jordan's okay,” he told the Burnley Express.

"He's back in with us. He's still going to be a few weeks, but he's heading in the right direction in and around the group now.

“But it's hugely disappointing for Jordan. The boy's been through an awful amount of disappointment and heartbreak over the last couple of years, and it’s just a real shame. But you often find that when you've been out for such a long time, sometimes you can pick up other little things.

“It's just another little setback for him. He’s a strong boy that no doubt will come back and we'll get him to the place we need to get him to.”

This is not a knock on Parker whatsoever, but we are nearly a month further on, and the poor lad is still limping like that. I'm sure he chose the words he thought were kindest to describe the situation, as it's hugely clear he cares about the welfare of his players. We saw with Koleosho last year, that you do struggle after being out a long time. All I'm saying, is from the way he was limping, is that it doesn't look like a small setback, and that he's a long way from being able to run, yet alone play.

I don't want to hide him away. In his best interests, I want to keep him in and around the club and players. The question I would ask is, could they have done the fixture reaction video with him sitting down (which they did), without him them publicly limping into an area with fans? Could they have asked him the Ballon D'or question, or at least cut the video to not show him walking hurt? Or if they are going to do those things, which is fine, be a little more accurate in the way they are describing his potential injury? Ultimately, I want him to play to his full potential for us again, as he was absolutely class when he did. I guess it comes back to the lack of transparency in terms of messaging by the club. That friendly cameo really does seem odd given the circumstances since.

I remember starting a thread last season about the Q&A with Matt Williams. I know a lot of people said perhaps MW said too much that night, but a lot of stuff he said did prove to be accurate.

He did say Beyer was in a very bad way, and it could be potentially career ending. Obviously no details were given, as they shouldn't have been, but whatever he's had or done, it's been incredibly serious.

Declaration - I have absolutely no knowledge of Beyer’s injury at all.

What I will say is that as someone who has experienced serious knee surgery as a teenager I know that I continued to subconsciously limp (and still do to this day - 40 years later!) when I walk sometimes because my mind was trying to protect my knee from further injury or pain. This was despite me having a near full 100% recovery from the surgery.

He may well be limping, but do not make assumptions that it is serious or for that matter directly related to an injury.

Apparently there are four basic reasons why people develop a limp. Something is painful, stiff or weak—or one leg is substantially different from the other.

It could be something as simple as a blister that is painful when he puts his foot down. He could be stiff after doing a lot of gym work. He may have lost muscle mass during his lay off and be imbalanced or compensating through habit. Whatever the reason, he played 20 minutes in July, came of the pitch feeling good and then had his setback. We have no details of what that was. Was it a different injury or a recurrence? What Scott Parker was suggesting is that it was a different injury and we know that those sort of things are normal, we've had it before with other players coming back from long injuries.

Jordan is only 25. Give the lad a chance. I really hope that he is fit enough to start playing football for somebody in January even if it means a loan move. Hopefully we'll see him in a Burnley shirt at somepoint.

When I saw Pashley play for bury he had a limp. Still great mind you

Really good interview with quotes from Jordan to reassure us as to accuracy so thank you for that.

So a meniscus tear followed by a sensation of a bit of it lodged in his knee joint, then properly diagnosed with bruising on the bone (which can take up to a year to heal so I’m told?). Recently a quadricep injury which is obviously less serious.

All deeply unfortunate and doesn’t sound like any fault of our club, more like a freak set of bad luck events.

The best bit in the article is when Jordan is saying he is almost ready to go full throttle. With luck he will be giving our established centre backs some competition in the next few months. I wish him all the best.
