On many occasions yesterday Dubravka had to throw the ball out to a defender (who was then immediately faced with all the men Liverpool had committed to the attack) to avoid being penalised with the award of a corner kick. It was almost like a pre-season friendly type of event. I know Oliver didn't give the "sub him or else" signal to the Liverpool bench but the message got to them PDQ and they acted accordingly. No such luck for our player though. Out with the yellow and a satisfied expression on Oliver's face.

Just watched the replay and immediately after he hauled Anthony to the ground (as the last man) and should have got a second yellow, he then went and climbed all over Ekdal from the resulting free kick and could have given away a penalty (had Ekdal behaved like a Utd player and dropped like he’d been shot)

Rated Oliver low on Rate The Ref anyway, but I always do that when I’ve driven home and before I see any highlights. I was unaware it was Kerkez with that foul, I recall I was yelling at the ref it was a booking as he stopped a potential breakaway (Anthony was running back from goal but could have released runners who we had steaming in).

That’s simply two tier reffing, if we had been against 10 men for 55 minutes who knows how it would have gone? Sending off Lesley for a non violent attempt at a tackle simply rubbed salt in the wounds.

But on the wider point, yes, Kerkez does look a duff buy, at the level Liverpool aspire to. Hartman did better at LWB though its hard to compare as it was attack vs defence on the whole.
