Feeling positive

Post by burnley007 » Sun Sep 14, 2025 6:10 pm

Am I naïve to feel nothing but positivity after that performance?

We were magnificent.

Does the Premier League stink? of course it does.

We are here to fight.

I think the encouraging thing is Parker and his staff are tactically knowledgeable enough to change relating to the opposition. He openly admitted today's tactics were to keep the pitch as compact as possible and make things very difficult for Liverpool...it very nearly worked.

Under Kompany, we are well adrift before he started to change how we played and his gung ho approach would probably have seen us taking a right beating today.

Don't also forget, having Spurs, United, Liverpool, Forrest and City all within he first 6 games is an incredibly tough fixture list, and you'd expect all our rivals at the bottom not to pick up too many points out of those games either. Onwards and upwards...

We look like a team that can compete at this level.

That's a big deal.

The key remains goals, but a very encouraging start. Two fairly inexperienced players at this level making mistakes is gutting after the teams efforts but so long as they learn quickly it stands us in good stead.

At the very least I think we’ll be strong enough to test a few chins and provided we keep going will be around to capitalise if and when those around us show themselves not up for a scrap.

Think we’ll have enough. SP has done a solid job building his squad.

Every right to feel positive, that performance was ever so nearly perfect against a top, top side

I'm feeling very positive. We are putting out a competitive team every week and our signings look great.

They give everything every minute of every game, I'll always be positive if I see that.

Get everyone fit , and I think we've a squad good enough to compete in this league . Plus having a manager that will change his formation/tactics depending on who we're playing , is a massive plus .

Exactly. I feel I can really get behind this team. Their work ethic, commitment and team spirit is fantastic. 3 defeats out of 4 (as probably expected) but feel way better than I ever did under VK in the PL. We know the games we realistically need to get our points from and games like today are a bonus if you grab a point. I thought the crowd was great today so it looks as though we are all well behind this set of lads. Bring on Forest!

I think next week is now a very important game - we really could do with something to make sure we're not 1/5 after 6 games, given it's City the following game - but if we can get something from Forest I'll be cautiously optimistic. The level of focus, diligence and application today, at least until the 93rd minute, was absolutely exceptional and there was an honesty and humility to the way we approached the game that was very relatable for supporters. For the first time since Dyche's best days we looked like what we need to be to get a toe-hold at this level.

It's going to be incredibly tough because the standard of the league is exceptionally high, and we're going to need some luck that has evaded us in the final minutes of the last two games. But we do look like we're learning (we switched on far quicker today than we did against Spurs or United, or indeed Sunderland) and that stands us in good stead.

You can’t really ask for much more than what we saw today every player digging deep. A real sense of team spirit which is going to be key for us. Roll on next Saturday.

Feeling a lot better now than at 4.00pm-had time to reflect and see the positives. If Hannibal was to make that mistake, better it was today against the Champions than to lose in ET v a bottom or low table side. To a man we were magnificent. But when he has had time to take it all in, Parker will be the winner. Four years ago, around this stage of the season, his team Bournemouth went down 9-0 against todays opponents. That game cost him his job, and nearly his career. He has truly got a monkey off his back. This will give him belief, confidence and fight, and what is clearly obvious his team and staff are behind him 100%

Unlucky not to be 2 points better off than the league table shows.

I'm feeling confident that with this manager and this group of players we can make more of a fist of staying in this League than we did last time around.
