Has he just met the 1:44:50 qualifying mark or has he actually been selected for the worlds ?

I was watching a bit of the diamonds league meeting in Switzerland tonight and the rain was torrential !!

He's a really good lad, delighted that he's kicked on even further after his spell in the States.

As for athletics, there are several local clubs who are always looking out for athletes and more importantly the coaches/volunteers who help produce talent like Tiarnan.

Great news - I know the parents really well. They’ll be made up.

When I spoke to him before he left England to go to the holding camp, he said he has planned with his coach to try and run a high 1:43, as that is what it may well take to qualify from the heats.

It really shows the depth of talent in the 800m at the minute.

Had never heard of him and that's not a name you'd forget.

Good luck to him.

He should be very pleased with what he's accomplished, not too far off qualifying and needs to treat it as his beginning of mixing it with the best.

A solid winter and push on in 2026.

Decent run. Those that don’t know will look at his time and say “he’s run faster than that” but this is competition and you can only go with the flow. If he’s not a front runner he sits in.
Looking at the world rankings before the start (68) there were only 2 in the field ranked lower so he beat at least one ranked above him.

Yep, my Mrs couldnt get her head around how his time was quicker than all but one in the next heat but he goes out and they go through. Its what makes it so interesting though.

Josh Kerr was saying the same yesterday. There shouldn’t be fastest losers, should be a straight qualification. This is racing and it’s about winning races.
