Re: Match of the day
Yes very disappointing analysis of the game. Nothing at all said about us at all and some incoherent babbling from Rooney about Forest’s alleged “Angeball”.
Re: Match of the day
I like the way he said 'it didn't work this time.' It obviously didn't work any time as they didn't score again
.

Re: Match of the day
Thought I'd watch for a change. I will never get that time back.

I won't lose any sleep over it but that was very odd. Great work Burnley. It only matters what we think UTC

If I didn’t know it was us playing, I wouldn’t know it was us playing from that analysis!

staggered by how the a***holes at the BBC can justify this.
pathetic and disrespectful. I truly hate all involved with producing or editing that . Embarrassingly biased.

Made me laugh tbh, it has been the same every time we’ve been on. It isn’t half going to p!ss a lot of people off when we finish comfortably outside the relegation spots.

We that were there saw a gritty battling performance and a game on another day we could have won. All our players gave 100% and Tino and Loum bossed the game with our superb defence excellently marshalled by Martin in goal. We will win more games against lesser opposition. I never watch motd who cares what Shrek thinks anyway

Can Rooney actually do an analysis without repeating the same thing twice.

Re: Match of the day
Likewise, I tuned in anticipating a fair analysis of a pretty even game with a few chances for both sides and some words of encouragement, which would be justified given the situation of both clubs. It was pretty shocking that... to not mention anything about us at all.... didn't they even state rbat Forest played well!!?
No one likes us, no one likes us!....
No one likes us, no one likes us!....
Re: Match of the day
It must be a clause in the Match of the Day employment contracts that no credit should be given to Burnley whatsoever as the previous bunch were exactly the same.
Re: Match of the day
Not watched MOTD for years since youtube started putting highlights on at around 8pm. I did watch the highlights of the Sunderland game, and Shearer's analysis of us was beyond basic. Also half the footage was of the managers close ups for some reason. Beyond bizarre.
Sometimes I think they just pick the goalscorer out and put together some hastily arranged clips. Danny Murphy is another one. Just bare minimum input. If they had anything about them they would have done analysis on KW last night as he was everywhere. Also God knows why they employ Rooney, the guy must have some agent.
I've nothing against the three mentioned btw, I just think the format is stale and boring. To be fair to Sky at least the pundits give their opinions in real time, the BBC have hours to prep and still come up with boring footage and analysis.

Re: Match of the day
I think you've got to understand that Burnley fans aren't a big enough market to be the priority for MoTD's editor. Burnley v Forest is not a particularly interesting game for the neutral and so the pundits were obviously asked to focus on the most obvious public interest story which was how Ange is altering things at Forest. When you're second last on they don't have lots of time.

Re: Match of the day
Just what did MOTD think they were getting when they hired Rooney? He’s just a failed manager ( several times over ), add to that- he’s as thick as mince, can barely string a sentence together, adds no technical insight whatsoever, just trots out the same platitudes that most of these “pundits” offer. Stealing a wage. Scandalous.

Re: Match of the day
Just seen the handball in the area not given for CP against WHU. Blasted straight at Walker-Peters. The difference between this and Hannibal was that yesterday's was directly on goal. Also, it wasn't Liverpool.
The inconsistency is very frustrating.

I recall there were plenty on here celebrating the departure of Lineker saying that MOTD could do with a “refresh”. Well, here it is, BBC style.

The best thing to do with MOTD is always record it and fast-forward from game to game, completely missing out the chatter and 'analysis' entirely.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 11:25 amAn England international goal scorer that was as cheap as chips compared to Lineker![]()

I'm not sure what people were expecting, the main story was obviously going to be Forest's new manager.

Re: Match of the day
I thought the game yesterday was excellent. I said on the way home that they should show the game first but it will probably be last.
It was a proper game of football. Awful weather but loads of good football on the deck, plenty of chances, great saves, great tackles and TBF referee did well too.
Forest played some really nice stuff but so did we and I thought for the first 30 minutes of second half we were the better team. They ended fresher but think they used their subs better,
MoTD were always going to do a focus on Forest and the new manager…..and that’s fine. What wasn’t fine is why they did not do a feature after this on Burnley highlighting some of the really positive points from our side. There are players who are new to the Premier League and they could have easily focused on one of them.
I usually like Danny Murphy but he really did look like he’d just come back from a big night out. Rooney always looks like that anyway and whilst they try and set him up with some technical analysis every week he has a tendency to just repeat the same nonsense.
I still watched it because if you put aside the punditry or bias I thought the highlights would be decent because it was a good game.

Re: Match of the day
Much better content and analysis out there now with you tube etc. ‘scraping the barrel’ as another poster has stated above just about sums it up. Danny Murphy is ok but he will be told how much to say on each match. Rooney isn’t a good pundit . Whovever appoints the likes of Rooney, Clinton Morrison,Paul Merson and Tim Sherwood must have had lobotomies.
Re: Match of the day
Anyone see the Old Trafford onside decision photo for Fernandez goal showing an arm offside and think about Fosters arm being offside with ManU player sticking out arm behind being ignored.
Is this favouritism or dodgy cameras or VAR rule changes?
Re: Match of the day
I don't think it's the amount of highlights time that people are complaining about but the fact that after the highlights, there was not 1 mention of our performance, the players, formation etcboatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 1:28 pmIt's fine, but not necessarily what programmes like MOTD are particularly keen on.
If we are well down on possession it's hardly a surprise that we don't get much time on a highlights show.
