Re: Match of the day
My wife annoyingly always leaves the subtitles on the iplayer and I always turn them off but when I tuned in to see what you were all going on about, I had to turn them back on. How can they pick someone as inaudible as Rooney as a pundit? And what does “ehrm”mean?

Re: Match of the day
Must admit though I genuinely did rewind it as I thought i'd zoned out and missed what they said about us!
Re: Match of the day
It’s like i said my previous thread we don’t get any respect in any quarter MOTD, TalkSport, Premier League Kick Off, Monday Night Club they all fail to give us any credit against Utd barely a word against Lpool i think Danny Murphy was slightly complementary and against Forest amazingly not a word but that’s just this season already and the likes of Keown ( you have to beat teams like Burnley)(O’hara & Cundy(it’s only Burnley you beat) Alex Crook(they will go down lowest points total ever) i just hope we stay up then we stuff all this negativity up their miserable a****s you can add Deeney to that list too. We know who we are once a Claret always a Claret UTC

Re: Match of the day
Just watching tonight’s MOTD.
FWIW -I think Shay Given and Theo Walcott are good summarisers and analysts.
And that tackle by Trai Hume…

Re: Match of the day
Just to back-up what Tackler posted, after the first game defeat at Spurs, Alex Crook on Talksport said 'Burnley are absolutely awful and get less points than Southampton did last season and are definitely going down'. What a knob.

I’ve not watched MotD for a few years now, it’s not really necessary anymore.

Re: Match of the day
It’s embarrassing tbh. Only Richards partially predicted us to stay up pre season and all other pundits had us going down. They don’t want the narrative to be wrong. If they can’t see that we have basically been in pretty much every game this season then they are not doing their job tbh. As for comparisons to Southampton before a ball is kicked for a team with our defensive record, he must’ve still been smarting from Robbie Blake or Jay Rod. Like most Man U fans that Crook bloke is a crook stealing a living.
Re: Match of the day
Jesus wept. “No one like us and it really hurts my feelings” might be a more apt song at the turf.
We just about hung on to a 1-1 draw against an out of form Nottingham Forrest, with about 30% possession. What were you expecting MOTD to say?
Every pundit thinks we will go down with a whimper because thats probably what will happen come May.

Re: Match of the day
Sorry, Bow, but the evidence so far doesn't support your view. Whilst I agree we may go down, I really don't think we're going down (if we do) with a whimper at all. We're fighting in every game; seem to be in every game; causing problems for every team we've played (whether that's making chances or preventing the oppo from scoring).
The other thing that's irked me about the pundits - back on the general topic - is there's been a few saying 'Burnley will struggle as they don't score many goals'. Now, hang on a minute, how many are going to score against Spurs away, Man U away (where we only got two and had another (wrongly?) chalked off), Liverpool (home or away) etc. Oh, and we scored a couple against S'land and against Forest. Blimey, the likes of Villa, Wolves, Leeds, Newcastle etc would probably bite your hand off for goals against that lot (as none of them have scored as many as us yet, arguably, had much easier games).
Anyhow, I remain pretty optimistic and I truly hope we stuff all the so-called pundits and prove how much they (don't) know.

Re: Match of the day
Can't say I'm that bothered. "We're Burnley, not Barcelona" has never been more apt than when we're in the Premier League. Small fish, big pond. I actually quite like how forgotten we are and us even just being in the league annoys people. Fact is, no-one's arsed about us and a show like MOTD simply has to attract a larger, more neutral audience. Burnley games from a wet and drizzly Turf Moor (as much as we love it) just isn't the big ticket. And neither do I particularly want us to be. Being last on MOTD is a small price to pay for the satisfaction of our presence in the Premier League p!ssing off Liverpool fans from Sussex.

"Match of the Day" ?
Is that still a thing?
Is that still a thing?
Re: Match of the day
Most Burnley supporters predicted we’ll go down, it’s not a difficult conclusion to draw given how promoted teams have fared recently.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 8:41 amIt’s embarrassing tbh. But there really isn't much to say apart from we get into good defensive shape, are well disciplined tactically and try to hit Forest on the break. There it is.

I'm sure that there's quite a bit more but they didn't even say that!boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 10:30 amBut there really isn't much to say apart from we get into good defensive shape, are well disciplined tactically and try to hit Forest on the break. There it is.

Re: Match of the day
No surprise though. To be honest I see MOTD as a highlights programme almost specifically aimed at people who don't watch live football. The triangle thing makes me laugh a bit.

Re: Match of the day
We are playing a pretty unique system which involves a central midfielder playing as a third centre back and then pressing on into attacking spaces when in possession and the right back then tucking in.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 10:30 amBut there really isn't much to say apart from we get into good defensive shape, are well disciplined tactically and try to hit Forest on the break. I'd have thought it's one of the more unusual systems in the division and well worth further analysis. Hopefully it gets picked up on by one of these outlets at some point.

Re: Match of the day
Unless you considered that we conceded about a quarter of the goals of Southampton and less than a third of Ipswich in their previous Championship campaigns. Massive difference in the quality of the Burnley team compared to those promoted in the previous season.

Re: Match of the day
Its the BBC, thats why there should be equal time devoted to ALL teams.
they bleat on constantly about inclusivity in every other area of coverage, therefore sport shouldnt be any different.
We were at home v forest and they never even mentioned us. we are in this division on merit.
By the same logic Arsenal shouldnt have been discussed against city, but oh no, even if arsenal arent playing they would still manage to crow bar a good ten minutes worth on them.
Many football supporters cannot afford sky or similar , and are reliant on highlights programmes such as motd. its a publicly funded broadcaster, and should reflect fairness.

Re: Match of the day
Talksport despise us, they really do. And Alex Crook hates us as we called him out a few years ago when he was spouting we would go down to league one due to us sacking Dyche. He's an absolute helmet.Tackler49 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 10:57 pmIt’s like i said my previous thread we don’t get any respect in any quarter MOTD, TalkSport, Premier League Kick Off, Monday Night Club they all fail to give us any credit against Utd barely a word against Lpool i think Danny Murphy was slightly complementary and against Forest amazingly not a word but that’s just this season already and the likes of Keown ( you have to beat teams like Burnley)(O’hara & Cundy(it’s only Burnley you beat) Alex Crook(they will go down lowest points total ever) i just hope we stay up then we stuff all this negativity up their miserable a****s you can add Deeney to that list too. Bizarrely the only pundits who ever seem to give us credit are Keane, Micah Richards, Shearer and Danny Murphy

Re: Match of the day
We need to get used to being brushed apart-we are in their eyes just a small club just passing through the PL. We started to get a little bit of recognition when Dyche kept us in the PL for around 7 years. Look at Bournemouth who I feel are a brilliantly run club, recruit expertly well, have a great manager and currently 4th in the PL and quite capable of beating anyone. How often have you heard them mentioned in the last two and a bit years

Best way to change the coverage? - not that it worries or upsets me in the slightest - start winning a few games.

Well they are the most respected pundits, so we are ok.Ric_C wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 12:10 pmTalksport despise us, they really do. And Alex Crook hates us as we called him out a few years ago when he was spouting we would go down to league one due to us sacking Dyche. He's an absolute helmet.

Re: Match of the day
Win a few and I’m sure even a coke addled drone like Danny Murphy will give us the odd compliment . I swear Shearer gets literally wound up with a key like a mechanical toy and released once the show starts . “ there was contact he’s entitled to go down “ etc etc
As for comedy black man Micah Richards , does anyone really listen a word this whooping clown utters ?
Pundits are what they are, but people shouldn’t pay heed to a single word , it’s simply bilge to fill in the gaps . While they may support a club they really don’t have agendas .
