That's about as bad as it gets in my opinion. 0 effort in that half, I'm expecting the manager to give them a rocket at half time.

If we get at them we'll blow them away, It's amazing how much space there seems to be at this level compared to vs PL opposition, we just haven't looked interested in the game tonight.

Tackles won: Burnley 2, Cardiff 9.

Disgraceful lack of urgency and commitment.

Edward’s is not going to be pressing for the first team - he doesn’t have a tackle in him

We can't afford to use Edward's, he's so lazy and doesn't seem like he be bothered. Can't stand him. Embarrassing.

Predictable levels of drama-queenery....Hannibal playing a blinder..the rest about what you'd expect from lads with no serious football under their belts.

At least there'll be no selection headaches come the weekend.

A crap half summed up for me after the second goal went in where as a collective of individuals we simply sauntered off back to the halfway line, heads bowed and not a word spoken from any of our starting 11

With the exception of Big Les who's a shoe in starter in the PL absolutely none of these will be banging on the managers door for a place at City on Saturday

To be fair, the team he picked should be able to comfortably beat a League 1 side.
Agree but it is the message it sends, that he isn’t bothered, when he doesn’t name a single one of our best XI on the bench. That’s why we see zero motivation, they get the vibe the manager isn’t bothered, which, lets be frank, he isn’t.

Last season we sacked off the FA Cup with an easy route to the last 8. It drives me spare. I accept many managers do it nowadays because ultimately the big clubs will be too strong for us to have a chance when we finally meet them. But Palace did it last year.

I like him, but he is testing my patience, again, lets put it that way. We need to Dare To Dream, or what is there?

That first attempt from Cardiff that just went past the right hand post in the first few minutes. 20 yards out or so. Edwards was tracking him and he was utterly pathetic. Put in not even a half arsed challenge and then literally stopped running. Cardiff forward then got his shot away. Spineless

That's what I was thinking the minute we signed him. I thought surely you have to have something on your CV to warrant £20m, or however much it was, , other than "grew up with the Chelsea Academy " and "get injured a lot".

Seems not.

Five at the back again. Defensive from minute 1. Agree if it is against a good prem side but Saturday and today 4-3-3 at least. We have the players on the bench. Pull off worall and put magic mike on.

I suspect it's the abject lack of effort and several misplaced simple passes that is causing the unrest.

Some of these players are coming back from injury, basically in preseason mode. Some just look like they can't be arsed. Edwards is very much in the latter group. It isn't hard to see why Parker hasn't given him a kick in a league game yet.

Second yellow for Big Les by the 60th minute. Though perhaps Hannibal will get a red first.

It reminds me of a time I turned up for my pub team and played whilst still half cut from the night before.

One of the worst first half performances I've seen from a Burnley team in years. Lazy, no effort , no cohesion, basically no idea. What the f.ck did Parker say to them before the game? I don't think Edwards really wants to be a footballer. Hannibal and Flemming have tried a little bit but the rest have been utter garbage.

First thing that needs to change is ditch a cb and then get the whole team 20 yds up the pitch.

Fair play to Hannibal who is trying everything to make something happen, but is totally hammered by people like Big Les getting himself needlessly booked which means he can't play properly, Worral who's distribution and pace reminds of Mark Winstanley, Edwards who I've always thought was a good player, but can't seem to control the ball anymore, Flemming who is playing in cement boots and Broja who is just plain garbage from what I've seen so far. Can't wait for the second half! Almost wetting myself with anticipation!

We have a big squad, and SP has to keep players happy and also see if anyone can play their way into the bench/starting positions.

Nothing wrong with the selection tonight at all.

You’d think a group of top flight players and a top flight manager would be utterly embarrassed getting given a footballing lesson on their own patch by a League One side.

Evidently not.

We can’t single out Edwards here, he has been our most creative by far despite looking dreadfully low on confidence and motivation.

I noticed it at the Lazio game, that is when he seems to have been told he was out. Hands on hips at the end. I think it knocked him for six. Remember he has spent a career dreaming of making it to the Premier League after leaving Spurs U21 setup.

I know we should be used to this after the Dyche years of sacking off the cup but the difference is that the second string then we’re journeymen/kids. These lads should be trying to make the case to start league games.

I don't blame the selection so far, I think we've got more than enough to win the game, people are acting like we've put out an U21's side, all of those players will feature in the PL and some will be considered starters for us.

It's on Parker to get somthing better out of the next 45 though.

Not sure if it is on Parker, right now it's on them to prove their worth. If they don't then they won't get a kick in the league injuries (touch wood) or whatever else aside.

As usual Edwards the lightning rod for the shortcomings of others. He's produced three or four bits of quality whilst looking very short on match sharpness. It's no accident that our best player- by an absolute mile- has been Hannibal, who has also played significantly more football this season than any other player out there.

Biggest problem with the set up isn't the 3 centre back shape, its that weve shoehorned Broja and Flemming into a set up which demands one or the other.

I've no issue with the lineup tonight. Fringe players need minutes in their legs, as do those coming back from injury and he'd be mad to risk any of his key players in this competition at this stage. The application of some has been disappointing though and I'm sure Parker will be letting a few know about that.

5 at the back against League One shite? Very negative set up. Sonne and Worrall are tripe.
I believe that will be the formation for the League all season, no reason to change it for cup games.

If they are pressing and playing a high line, why are we passing it around at the back? We should be hitting it long to cut out their press.
