Pretty shite, but special mentions to Sonne, Worrall and Broja who were fairly appalling.

Subs 4 (Tresor 6).

An awful and at times unacceptably lazy performance player wise and tactics wise. Cardiff had the ball at ease in all areas of the pitch, played with intensity and were deserved winners. Another one to add to our crap cup performances in recent seasons.

Weiss 5 - looked wobbly and unconvincing
Sonne 3 - poor defending, poor passing, poor crossing, and in reality at PL level, a poor player
Worrall 4 - looks laboured
Tuanzebe 5 - when his boot fell off it summed up his night, can’t recall much quality
Humphreys 4 - some very unsteady defending and looks miles off it
Pires 6 - moderately energetic and gets a pass
Ugochukwu 6 - a rash booking but some good strong breaks forward
Hannibal 7 - had more match sharpness and it showed, some quality but he is not a creative player
Edwards 6 - powerpuff defending but was dangerous going forward and he shouldn’t have been defending in an inside right role
Flemming 6 - a mixed bag, improved second half but should have had more
Broja 4 - looks far from fitness but then bursts into life (and speed) in rare intervals so it may be just who he is and how he looks

Banel 5 - some misplaced passes and wasn’t played far enough forward
Tresor 8 MOM - cannot rate <20 mins but sod it. A crime he wasn’t on earlier. Several magic moments and only lack of match sharp finishing stopped him winning the game. That start and finish move was incredible, the feint inside two men even better.

Parker 3 - a woeful managerial performance, shameful, disgraceful and we need to demand an apology. Five at the back against a League One side and even then our wingbacks didn’t push up much, and our inside forwards were asked to track back which was farcically negative. We had nobody up front to break the press. It was a shambles and one that is his achilles heel and led to all those 0-0s last season before we signed Edwards (then, in the big time, dropped him, out of fear for his defending). I fear this style of management will plague him in the league too.

I shall make a prediction - unless Scott finds the nerve to integrate Tresor and Edwards into league games (off the bench is fine), it will cost him his job once the promotion honeymoon is over. We simply will not score enough.

A tactical shocker and incredibly disjointed display. Effort levels embarrassing first half. Pressing structure non-existent. Parker has restored some Dyche values in recent times, which has been good, but sadly it looks like that’s extended to the cup.

I'm angry after that. More than I should be. Home to Cardiff and the team was abysmal. Biggest problem for me was the way we're so slow, backwards, negative and playing a system that creates nothing.

And some of those individual performances were dreadful. I don't see what some do in Hannibal btw: he's clueless. Burnley fans love a runner but he has no brain. Loses it time after time.

From tv
Weiss 6 not much to say
Sonne 4 couldnt do a thing right
Worrall 4 soooo slow
Tuanzebe 4 a lost soul
Humphreys 6 who decided to play him in midfield
Pires 6 nothing came off for him
Hugo 5 not sure what his role was
Hannibal 6 goid first half, awful second
Edwards 4 I wonder sometimes if he wants to be a professional footballer
Flemming 6 best attacking option, but no service whatsoever
Broja 4 we should have spent the money on Sargent

Parker 4 awful selection, but he totally failed to motivate them
Beaten by a well organised team which had the guts to try and win a game of football.

Weiss 6
Sonne 3 nowhere near good enough. Never has been.
Tuanzebe 4
Worral 4 slow far too slow to be in the 1st team
Pires 5
Humphreys 4
Ugochukwu 4 not seeing what some others see
Hannibal 6 at least he looked interested and put effort in
Edwards 4 pretty idle really
Flemming 5
Broja 3 looks like a dud. Rotten display

Banel 4
Barnes 4
Tresor 6

The first half was like having 11 Paul Stewarts on the pitch but at least they’d have been on the same wavelength. I wonder what the wage difference was between these two teams. It was a rancid display and we were easily 2nd best. Some of these players shouldn’t be anywhere near the 1st team and need to be shipped out in January.

Weiß 6
Sonne 3 (if I could give less I would)
Tuanzebe 4, just a very poor game
Worrall 4, I thought he would be a leader. Looked lost
Humphreys 4, not up to speed
Pires 6, up and down but had no outlet on so many occasions
Hannibal 5, tried harder than most and wanted the ball. Just did nothing with it
Ugochukwu 4, crap
Edwards 4
Broja 3, a huge worry. Please turn out to be half decent
Flemming 5 (plus 2 for the goal which was a great finish). Awful other than the goal. No effort

Parker 3, I hope he's fuming with that. The lack of closing down, pressing and attacking intensity was garbage.

Great to see Tresor playing. Stupid not to start him.

Weiss 5 - insistent on playing it out from the back despite it being abundantly clear it was causing us issues.
Sonne 4 - poor but consistently outnumbered on that side.
Tuanzebe 5 - one absolute piece of quality in the first half where Broja should have scored. Otherwise unconvincing.
Worrall 5 - ponderous and inaccurate in posession (players constantly needing to break stride from his passes) and another who seemed willing to continue to try with the slow build up which clearly wasn't working.
Humphreys 6 - thought his effort levels were at least more convincing than others in defence and gave it a good go in midfield.
Pires 6 - another who's effort was there and at least showed some desire to get us up the pitch.
Ugochukwu 4 - sat far too deep, laboured on the ball and no willingness to press.
Hamnibal 7* - one of the few who can come out of the game with any credit - despite the challenges with the personnel within the setup.
Edwards 4 - some nice touches but his application was very poor indeed. Again the setup didnt help him, but he really didnt show enough.
Broja 4 - should have done far better with his chances and showed some poor decisions with the ball.
Flemming 5 - +1 for the goal.

I understand the willingness to give the 11 players all some game time but the setup was incredibly poor. They pushed us back (with our own help and our insistance in playing laboured posession football from the back, it must be said) and we ended up with a very deep 5 in defence, 3 in midfield, one of which was Edwards who is clearly unsuited to such a role, and two strikers upfront who ended up isolated but didnt cause anything like enough nuisance value against opposition 2 leagues below.
Tresor was indeed lively when he came on but chose some poor options when well positioned.
A very poor showing with nobody coming out with too much credit.

Flemming 6. Great finish
Broja 3. I'm shocked at his total lack of any footballing ability

Subs:
Banel 4. Anonymous
Barnes 6. Sad times when he improves us
Tresor 9. Everything changed when Magic Mike appeared
Clarke 4. Oh dear

A word about Parker.

The next time he decides to throw a cup tie, I hope he lets us know in advance so we don't have to turn up either.

Dyche-esque was that.

Weiss 6 - left exposed for both goals

Sonne 4 - he’s an international - really?
Worrall 4 looked very very rusty
Tuanzebe 4 - staggered he’s getting higher marks than Worrall - he was shocking. Did he complete a forward pass all night? Absolutely crap
Humphreys 5 - at least made an effort
Pires 5 - see Humphreys

Big Les - 4
Hannibal 6* - simply because I can’t mark Tresor and he ran about the most
Edwards - 5 - a dire first half
Flemming 4 - goal aside he was both slow and dreadful
Broja 4 - the bizarre thing is there are moments when you think there’s a player in there - should have scored

Banel 4 - offered nothing

Tresor did more in his cameo than the rest of them combined all night. Just bizarre. Cardiff are a League 1 side who were there for the taking. Fair play to them, they deserved the win

Only positive is Tresor - surely he needs to be getting some bench time at the very least?

No, it led us to build an identity after so much turnover, going from strength to strength before turning into a juggernaut to come 2nd on 100 points.

So far in the league, we have been two brain farts away from being on 6 points after 5 games. Not bad.

It was crap tonight, but let's at least be real.

It seems we're never too far away from a rancid cup display and this was a shocker. I understand that these players aren't match sharp, but the clunkiness of them on the ball and the lack of effort can't be solely put down to that.

All 4 except Hannibal 5 and Tresor 9 (would have been 10 had he laid the ball off instead of trying to score at the near post)
A waste of time and money tonight. Appalling display. You could see from the start they expected to win the game without putting in the necessary effort. By the time they realised they might lose the game it was too late.

Weiss 6
Sonne 4
Worral 5 Slower than Mark Winstanley and really cannot play out from the back!! He really can't be anywhere near the first team.
Tuanazade 5
Humphreys 5 He's a good player as we've already seen, but he didn't look it tonight.
Pires 4
Les 5 Stupid booking and for such a big unit he was then on the fringe.
Hannibal 7 Tried everything to get the others going.
Edwards 5 Another good player who was inexplicably dire.
Flemming 5 +1 for good finish.
Broja 3 Up there with one of the worst showings I've ever seen in a claret shirt.

Banel 6
Barnes 6
Tresor 7
The subs definitely injected something and I almost started thinking we'd out of jail.

Fair play to Cardiff who ran and ran and harried us constantly for 96 minutes and they showed plenty of skill too, but crikey that starting XI should have been brushing them aside, not struggling to get any kind of foothold in the game. It was a weird team selection and that's how it played out. Disjointed and lacking cohesion and nobody really seeming sure of their roles or the plan. Unusual stuff from Parker tbh, but it's clear as day why some of these guys are not in the first team and hopefully we'll never need them!

The first half was abhorrent, a complete lack of desire throughout the side, the second half was a lot better but still way below the required standard.

On paper the back three should be a good fit, a dominant centre half flanked by two players who naturally can play as centre halves/full backs.

They were a shaky mess who played themselves into tight situations with their square balls all night, that were so telegraphed that the opposition knew exactly where the ball was going, encouraging the press is great if the players doing that are competent on the ball, ours unfortunately are not.

If, as a team we are happy to gift possession to the opposition then you have to press aggressively when the time is right, we were so passive it was unreal, this plan works with Foster and Anthony but Broja and Edwards, give me a break.

Hannibal (after his chat with Parker) tried his best to dictate attacks but he was almost having to try starting attacks on his own.

Getting knocked out isn't the end of the world but the manner of the defeat and the performances of some of the players deemed to be the next in line for starting berths, is at best very disappointing.

Weiss - 6

Sonne -4
Tuanazade -4
Worrall - 4
Pires -6
Humphreys - 4

Les - 5
Hannibal -6
Edwards - 5
Flemming -5

Broja - 4

Huge learnings for Parker and the fans tonight. We have a huge squad. We don’t have a deep squad.

Tresor aside no-one looked remotely close to staking a claim for a 1st team spot. The entire back line looked 2nd best to a league 1 forward line and will be neither use nor ornament to us in the league.

Problems at the other end too. You can see exactly why he hasn’t fancied Edwards. Early days for Broja but that price tag is concerning. £20m looks like a decimal point error.

Honestly, it really was almost as bad as a Dyche cup performance....almost.

An awful first half, where we made a Div 1 ( weakened ) side look good, with a non-existent midfield and a defense that looked confused about anything defensive. Hannibal tried, as the half wore on, but he was pretty lonely in his efforts.
I understand, a side that doesn't played competitive games may not be cohesive. But there was an utter absence of any thought process.
At least in the second half, we gave them a game. But given where Cardiff are at the mo, it was a pretty low bar.
We were beaten by a better side and, we deserved to be.

Weiß 4 - I’ve seen him face 5 opponents now and apart from the dreadful penalty v Lazio I’ve not seen him save a shot….

Sonne 3 - so far off the level v a League One team
Tuanzebe 4
Worrall 4
Humphreys 5
Pires 3

Hannibal 5
Ugochukwu 4

Edwards 4
Flemming 4
Broja 5

Banel 4

Played like a bunch of strangers in a shape that we’ve never played before and you could tell. There was zero fluidity and the players were definitely not comfortable playing this shape. The opposition were afforded far too much room and time on the ball. A massive own goal from the manager and there was hardly a player on our team who didn’t recently cost us in the region of £4-10m. Embarrassing.

What an opportunity missed. I genuinely thought we had a chance of going a long way in this competition. I didn't anticipate turning up to watch what appeared to be a pre season friendly against, with the greatest of respect a 3rd tier team, who were head and shoulders better than us. It was like Deepdale revisited

Weiss 4-If he's our number 2 we've got problems. Surely Hladky must be better?
Sonne 3-Seen him a few times and he's never impressed me.
Tuanzebe 5- Looked to have something if you take away the faux pas. Just not match fit.
Worrall 4-Supposed to be captain but I didn't see any leadership
Humphreys 7-Grew into the game and looked to improve as the match progressed.
Pires 4- Very poor but he wasn't playing his normal role.
Ugochukwu 6-Don't think the early booking helped.
Hannibal 7*-Played with the energy and enthusiasm a lot didn't.
Edwards 4-Not physically strong enough for me although we did on occasion looking threatening when involved.
Flemming 4 and that includes one for the goal. He looked well off the pace.
Broja 3-he's got to be given a chance but I've got the opinion of my Everton neighbour ringing in my ears.

Banel 4-didn't have much impact.
Tresor- I know I can't mark him but his cameo was better than 99% of what went before he came on.

Didn't go on (or bother watching) as after the PNE display last season, it's quite clear Parker doesn't give a toss about the cups.

Looking at the ratings it's quite concerning that Broja and Tuanzebe seem no way near, Edwards seemingly can't be arsed and Tresor STILL is a mystery.

With Tresor, if it is a fitness issue, surely he is good enough to be on the bench in the league, then he can come on for 15 mins and try and affect the game and build up his stamina. I'm getting the feeling we will stomach this charade until he is in the last year of his contract, where he suddenly turns into a world beater.

The only thing in defence of Parker is that I'm guessing he set up that way because he wants the fringe players to get used to the system we are playing in the prem. Massively backfired it seems.

Also where was JBL? Is he injured?

Weiss 5 looked shaky & nowhere ready for prem
Sonne 4 dull and underwhelming
Worrall 4 not good enough
Tuanzebe 5 disappointing
Pires 4 where was he playing?
Humphries 5 centre midfield? Not his fault but WTF?
Hannibal 6 no end result when we relied on him
Ugochukwu 5 questionable
Edwards 4 disinterested
Flemming 5 nice goal, offered little else
Broja 5 worrying

Tresor 7 less than 10 mins and man of the match. So many unanswered questions
Banel 4 not given enough time

Weiss 5
Sonne 4
Pires 4
Worrall 4
Tunazaebe 4
Humprhies 4
Hannibal 6 - he put in the effort snd worked well near the end.
Ugochukwu 4
Edwards 5 - far from great, however one 2 decisive balls
Fleming 6 Inc 1 for the goal
Broja 3 woeful

Special mention for Tresor, who, once again, came on for a short time and demonstrated he is a class above. Would be an 7 for his few moments, as he wasted some of his own good work.
