Fair play mate, you almost got it pretty bang on.AshevilleNCClaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 27, 2025 2:36 pmPredict it will be 1-0 to them by halftime, after a deflected shot goes into the goal. Second half they pull away and win 5-1.

Leeds conceded in 93rd minute to draw so that's something

Erling Haaland (90+4 mins)
Make that two goals for Erling Haaland.
It's calamitous stuff at the back from Burnley as Maxime Esteve, who has scored two own goals, and Hjalmar Ekdal collide to leave Haaland clean through on goal.

I think we’ve seen enough now to accept that Ekdal isn’t going to be a long term solution at Centre back if we want to stay in the premier league.

Wouldn’t be surprised if heads will drop after the Man U fiasco, the Liverpool sickener, getting schooled by a League One team in the cup and then capitulating to City despite putting 5 on the back line.
Re: Man City vs The SUPER CLARETS - MATCH THREAD
Glad that one's out the way. I can't think of a worse fixture than City away.

At least the worst fixture of the season is out of the way early. We wouldn’t want this as the last game. We’d be better off forfeiting this fixture and taking a 3-0 loss as there isn’t a lot of point turning up.

Just p!$$ off and go and play the other top 6 clubs ten times a season and leave us all alone.
Sickening disparity and time they took their billions and just disappeared forever.
Just drop the sham of an investigation into their financial dealings and let them wallow in their own cess pit.
Sick and tired of it all, as you might have guessed.
Off to take the dog for a walk now - far more pleasurable pastime.

3-1 would have been respectable but defence went to pieces for last two and we were not even chasing the game
Nightmare for Esteve but let’s move on-our opening fixtures were ridiculous and hopefully players and managers have learned enough to now start converting future games into points

shittest league in the world
Re: Man City vs The SUPER CLARETS - MATCH THREAD
Parker has to keep the group positive as we enter a better run of games now. Esteve needs to learn from today, a total disasterclass from him. We’ve improved our physicality this season but still look half as tall and half as fast as City players.

Re: Man City vs The SUPER CLARETS - MATCH THREAD
Looked promising for a while but then very ineffective substitutions ruined any chance of getting anything from the game. Bruun Larsen hardly put a foot right and the others were fairly invisible especially Broja. The omission of Tresor from the squad, especially after being included in the 25, just doesn’t make sense.

I guess we have to stomach it for a season for the good of the club. It can be a bit soul destroying though at times.

I actually thought Walker had his worst game in a Burnley shirt. He looked unsettled and hit a lot of stray passes. Probably unsettled due to going back, and it had an effect on Steve.

I know City are good and they're owned by a country blah, blah, blah, but has it become psychological that we'll get hammered there now?
We don't seem to struggle quite as much against the other top sides.

Esteve a game to forget, 2 own goals then jumped into Ekdal who was already heading it out for the final goal. I’d rather he get all his mistakes out in a game that we were never going to win anyway. We move on!

No not at all. I’ve never changed my view that he’s too slow and lacks the skillset to be a long term first choice in the premier league. To be fair he’s had a couple very good games this season but he’s also been helped by having Steve next to him. Just look how we collapsed when even Steve isn’t playing well too. I want Ekdal to do well though and it would be wonderful to be proved wrong! It’s ok to have a different view though.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Sat Sep 27, 2025 5:08 pmLadies & Gentleman...........We have a Scapegoat!
Re: Man City vs The SUPER CLARETS - MATCH THREAD
We did well to go in 1-1 at HT.
We're 17th and not in the relegation places.
Liverpool and Chelsea got beat.
United look absolute bobbins.
Octobers fixtures look more favourable for us.
On we go.

I had accepted 3-1 put final score up just to see Haaland on screen and a 5-1 scoreline turned off with a few expletives. Then put scores on my phone and seeing both Chelsea and Liverpool lose has made my Saturday bearable oh and seeing Charlton's score as well .

I'd say the same of Esteve, who obviously has a lot of credit in the bank after last season, but he doesn't look a top rate PL defender on the evidence so far.

Not worried at all with Esteve. We know he's a top defender, just bad day at the office. It happens.

We are a small fish in a big pond, and we are always going to struggle against teams that are title contenders - no shame in that. One thing is for sure: the vast majority of us celebrated being back in this league, knowing full well there would be days like this.

Re: Man City vs The SUPER CLARETS - MATCH THREAD
Writing this from the Victoria Tap waiting for the train back. Gathered my thoughts on the walk back having left 5 minutes early in the hope of a tram back but seemingly half the ground including the City fans had the same idea...so gave my legs a work out.
5-1 severely flatters them. Never a 5-1 game. Missed the last 2 goals so can't comment but defensively we look naive despite working our socks off. The first 20 minutes we sat far too deep with no outball. The goal when it inevitably came had a huge slice of luck for them. We worked our way in and deservedly levelled and you could sense frustration growing in the stadium.
Second half started similar but once they grabbed the second and third that was it.
You can see they are trying to play the right way and we were causing them issues and frustration but if we can't keep it tighter it's pointless.
The hope is once the fixture list alleviates we can impose the end of the first half Burnley on other teams. If we go to Villa and more so.Wolves and the same thing happens then it's looking a long hard season. Make or break games.
