Great day of golf.
Same again today, don’t let them have a sniff.

I like golf. I like the Ryder Cup.
But grown men from both continents dressed as golfers whooping and singing football style chants is a bit odd.

Re: Ryder Cup week.
I honestly think we might get a clean sweep in the first session today.
Their pairing don’t make much sense to me.
The joke is this course has been made into a big hitter’s paradise, you can more or less hit it anywhere on the tee and still have a shot. The rough isn’t really rough. Yet the American bombers can’t buy a win. Love it
I’m going to check the odds on a clean sweep in the first 4 matches.

Re: Ryder Cup week.
Just checked, 20-1 which is a lot less than I thought but shows the bookies think it’s possible. I’ve stuck a few quid on
Re: Ryder Cup week.
Agreed, sending Harris and Morikawa out together again after they got trounced yesterday doesn't make much sense. Up against Rory and Fleetwood again.

The course looks a bit too easy with no rough but the formats always offer excitement.

Early advantage USA, first two groups going 1 up.
I don't like it when they swap t shirt colours round and Europe play in red.
Stick to blue

All changed already.
First two games tied and Europe 1 up in 3rd game.

Hilariously it looks virtually over at this early stage!
5 1/2 more points needed with a session still to come today. Take 2 points from that and there's no way back for the Americans
Good the greedy b@stards

Maybe time to let the Americans have the rest of the world as well if they can't even make a game of it?

Re: Ryder Cup week.
Fantastic so far and I finished my round today then put the Ryder Cup on when home and only had Man City on audio in the background, right decision. That fan told to **** by Rory then Rory sticks it to 3 foot behind the bunker
The US team picked the wrong captain, the sympathy vote after what happened last time rather than an old head. Bradley should have been playing. The pairs were erratic and they suffer (to a degree, as a country) from hierarchy syndrome - there is a pecking order, yes sir, no sir, and I feel they hate playing in pairs as one always feels superior to the other. Bad dynamics. Rather than this the Europeans are just a team without ego.
Just need 2 points this evening now. Then coast home on Sunday.

Re: Ryder Cup week.
My prediction of a clean sweep in the early games wasn’t too far off
The yanks need to win at least 3 games this session. Even then it’s a tall order
Some of the stuff the yanks are shouting at players is shameful. No decorum. I know it’s loud when it’s over here but it’s respectful. They lack class

Re: Ryder Cup week.
I've experienced the yank nastiness, very sore losers, especially when losing at 8-ball pool. Germans were a lot more gracious in defeat.

Re: Ryder Cup week.
It can and has been done. Brookline 1999 saw US come back to win from 6-10 down going into Sunday singles. Conversely, Euro’s came back from 6-10 down to win at Medinah 2012.
We MUST keep the pedal to the metal!
Re: Ryder Cup week.
The Yanks seem to keep making terrible choices for captain. Bradley has never come across as particularly intelligent. They'd have been better off having his as a player this weekend.
Re: Ryder Cup week.
That's it, I knew there was another comeback win from 10-6 down.exilecanada wrote: ↑Sat Sep 27, 2025 6:56 pmConversely, Euro’s came back from 6-10 down to win at Medinah 2012.
Saved me from having to look it up. Thanks
Re: Ryder Cup week.
It’s sad that the organisers have had to resort to bringing more police in to stop the insults being thrown at the Europeans.
Lowry has had one guy expelled, and at $750 dollars a day to attend that should quieten them down a bit.

3 Blues on my tele and no red.
All still to play for though, all games are close.
Re: Ryder Cup week.
I don’t mind Thomas, at least he is asking the crowd to be quiet whilst the Europeans are taking their shots.

The crowds are a bit raucous but for crying out loud, it’s a game of golf being played not a life saving operation being carried out.
Just get on with it.

Re: Ryder Cup week.
I had the pleasure of having lunch with Billy Foster last week and he called pretty much everything that has happened, right down to Finnis getting stuck in if it came to it. What DeCahambeau's caddy did was unnecessary and there was no need for it. Pretty much the same as happened with McIlroy and Cantlay's caddy in Rome. Desparate. WHich is what the American team are.
The American fans have shown themselves to be a classless bunch of twerps, who have absolutely no recourse to any kind of clever banter other than insutling players personally (ironically picking on Lowry's frame) and once again piling in on the player's families. It's disgraceful but thankfully has done nothing but fuel the fire in the European hearts. The one downside is that The Ryder Cup has come close to collapsing because the USA don't get their own way and this might cause them to take their club and ball home, rather than spur them on to beat Europe in Ireland in 2027.

It's all a reflection of the state of their country right now, imo.Cheshireclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 27, 2025 10:35 pmI had the pleasure of having lunch with Billy Foster last week and he called pretty much everything that has happened, right down to Finnis getting stuck in if it came to it. Rampant narcissistic individualism, punching down rather than building up... it's no wonder we've put a smack down on them. They are a joke.

Oh and of course, a lovely sub-script - Ian Finnis (Fleetwood's caddy) is married to Rachel Brown-Finnis, Burnley girl and fan and former England goalkeeper.

2 points on the board.
1 up and a tie currently in the last two games.

Its great to beat them but not sure these one sided hammerings are good for the Ryder cup long term.

Yep. They've paid them to be (potentially) humbled this time, it'll be interesting to see what the appetite and / or incentive is for them to fly across the pond in 2 years' time. They seem to really enjoy The President's Cup and the team spirit is enormous when the US are playing in that. But of course, they last lost that in 1998!

Agreed, hammerings are NOT good for Ryder Cup long term. Away wins are pretty rare, but this has the potential of being an AWAY hammering, that's a different animal

Re: Ryder Cup week.
Fair play to the 4 Americans still out there. Must be pretty demoralising but they're showing some fight.

Re: Ryder Cup week.
This would be only the 5th win on US soil by Team Europe and if it's a bloodbath, then it would likely eclipse the 2004 Ryder Cup. I do wonder if the President's Cup and Ryder Cup may very well become combined at some point in the not too distant future. The Ryder Cup is run by The PGA of America, not The USPGA, and most of the golfers who haven't defetced to LIV (if not all of them) are beholden to The USPGA and the The PGA of America.exilecanada wrote: ↑Sat Sep 27, 2025 11:01 pmAgreed, hammerings are NOT good for Ryder Cup long term.
