Time to talk about Jaidon Anthony?

Post by Fretters » Sun Sep 28, 2025 11:18 am

That's now nine goals in his last fifteen goals (thanks to CT's stat from the Forest report) and he sits joint second in the Premier League top scorer chart, only behind the freak that is Haaland.

For a winger, this is some return. Our top scorer in this league under Kompany was JBL with six, I think, and Anthony is nearly there before the end of September.

His last two have been quite fortuitous, but he's often in the right place and, with a first touch as good as his, he's always likely to give himself a chance when through on goal.

Keep it up, Jaidon!

The improvement in positions he's taking up compared to most of last season is incredible. He never looked like scoring a goal for 6 months because he was never in there.
Credit probably needs to go to Parker and his coaches for the drastic improvement in numbers.

Switching to left in January seemed to revitalise him, which is strange as he did start the season there.

The theory was that Edwards on the right was tying up the opposition defence, allowing Jaidon to flourish, but there's no Edwards factor this season.

As you say, all credit to Parker and his team.

With the system Parker is playing, despite some saying it’s ‘crap’, Hartman is able to push high and wide, attacking the empty space that Anthony is leaving when he drifts inside. In particular he is attacking the box really well, and the goal yesterday is case in point for the above set up. A nice combination we have at the moment is quick interplay in the centre right, freeing up Walker/Cullen/someone to play the diagonal to an unmarked Hartman. Slightly off topic but partly why Anthony is getting on the end of chances. He also has a PL hat trick for Bournemouth don’t forget!

I think there was quite a big change in style after the Leeds and Sunderland games were out of the way. Pires was given complete freedom to get beyond Anthony which allowed Anthony to play narrower and closer to the goal.

We've continued that with Hartman coming in and playing as a wing back.

Him and Foster seem to have a good understanding which helps but he's playing well so hopefully it continues..

He's made the step-up....no doubt.

Love him. I've backed him to score for the last seven or eight games and I've done well.
It was obvious in the final games of last season that his eye for goal and positioning were excellent. He missed some sitters, still does to a small extent, but is a very clever player.

He plays with a real smile on his face and seems to care about our club. As mentioned he has a habit of being in the right place at the right time

The media are pushing for Grealish for England again, Anthony’s numbers don’t lie up against him.

Out of interest, which media? The only credible ones mentioned him 4-5 weeks ago, not recently.

Oh you're serious? So it should be based on 5 or 6 games and the rest of their careers ignored. Seems sensible.
