Credit were credits due though. The Americans made a game of it, wouldn’t have thought that at 5pm.

Bet the Americans will be whining now about the injury rule. That half a point really could have made the difference the way today has gone.

Does seem strange to me though that if you're unable to play your match, it's half a point each..I'll take it though!!

That rule was brought in a long, long time ago when it was merely a sporting event, not a battle!

worked to the Americans advantage in 1991, they should pipe down and go fight each other in the car park.

That rule caused a lot of controversy in one of the previous competitions. I think the Americans played an injured player, exacerbated it, then withdrew him for the singles, the resulting half point proving crucial.

Well I think the “this is too easy, let’s make it easier “ notion has gone

The yanks were brilliant today and made it a proper match. Brilliant golf from them. DeShambles turned it around brilliantly.

Just a shame about the fans throughout. Sh1te banter, poor behaviour.

Most have pi55ed off home! that wouldn’t happen here.

I know there’s a few American living poster post on here but thank Christ I don’t live in such a shallow, awful place, that’s only getting worse

Easy to say with hindsight, but do you think Donald was going for the kill with the lineup today? Perhaps a more spread out lineup would have been a better strategy...

Again easy to say... I do believe if Rosie had dropped his putt or Young had missed his, we'd have wrapped that up early.

Ludvig Aberg, Lowry & Hatton - stones of steel today. Superb lads.

Henley and Lowry the two best on the day - very high level match, again massive respect to Shane Lowry, absolutely magic on those last 3 holes. Sensational stuff.

Amazing today. The US came back more than I thought, but we had some gutsy street-fighters to see it out. So pleased we got that final half point to take the injury out of the conversation.

I suspect the abuse was far worse than we picked up on TV and some players, not least Rory, were on gas and air by the end.

And that streaming out of the fans - they hate losers do New Yorkers. Nearly as much as we like beating them.

To expand on that a little. I’ve lived in Ontario Canada for a long time and used to enjoy being so close to the States for several reason, one being family and golfing vacation opportunities. After 9/11 the US changed forever, and I have no plans to ever step over that border again. Since the ‘orange lunatic dictator’ entered the stage it’s got progressively worse. I really pity those who live there not by choice but other reasons.

Faldo effectively taught himself the game whilst working as a carpet fitter, despite having far less talent than people like Ken Brown, who sneered at him, and Sam Torrence who's father was one of the world's most renowned Golf Coaches. He won majors, unlike them and then rebuilt his game to become the best in the world ending up with 3 Open titles and 3 US Masters ... He may be socially awkward, but he is one of the greatest British golfers of the modern age ..

Sport was fabulous, comms was excellent(as always), the tv directors were awful. 22 players in two outfits on green grass and they give you an overhead shot for 10 or more seconds before identifying the hole and the match. My only complaint from a fantastic 3 days.

Fabulous effort. People saying that we nearly choked, I look at it in the way that we earned the right in days 1 and 2 to have a bad day, and that the Americans were always going to throw caution to the wind as they were virtually in an impossible spot.

They tried everything they could to beat us, long golf course, virtually no rough and of course a very boisterous home crowd, but ultimately left with nothing.

I'm hearing they are looking at 60,000 fans a day in Ireland for the 2027 matches, those Yanks will find out what a voiciferous home support feels like then, but one things for sure, it will be a thousand times more respectful.
