They're playing some very clever approach play.

This is what I'd hoped the football might be like under Tuchel.

It was but always seemed strange to call him Taff when he was playing alongside ten other Welshmen.

Yes - scored for us at Newcastle in 2018. A Sam Vokes header came off the bar, hit him and went in.

I remember that. We were so far away it was as if it was in slow motion.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 9:38 pmYes - scored for us at Newcastle in 2018. A Sam Vokes header came off the bar, hit him and went in.

Good comeback win for the Scots. 3-1 over Greece.
QH came on for Holland, 84mins. 0-4 up in added time.

It’s an incredible view on a clear day but not good for watching footballdougcollins wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 9:39 pmI remember that. We were so far away it was as if it was in slow motion.

Couldn’t be bothered watching it, instead I watched Fred Dibnah then All Creatures Great and Small A good nights viewing.

And given that he was from Swansea, it is rather like calling Jay Rodriguez "Scouse".ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 9:05 pmIt was but always seemed strange to call him Taff when he was playing alongside ten other Welshmen.
Re: England v Wales
See Tuchel having a pop about the atmosphere. He's probably got a point, but you can't fill the ground with corporates and tourists eating popcorn then expect a loud, intimidating atmosphere. One of many things that annoys me about modern footy.

Re: England v Wales
I watched the whole game and was impressed. Tuchel is building a team, not just a bunch of talented individuals. They have a game plan and structure that will bring results. The only question mark was the inclusion of Dean Henderson. I personally think he's "yesterday's man" and should be put out to pasture as far as the international scene is concerned.

But you could be bothered posting about something you didn't watch?
I thought there would have been record viewing figures with all the interest in flying the national flag?

Re: England v Wales
Torn between liking some typical German directness after years of middle management niceties from Southgate but also thinking it's a bit off that a man being paid millions should have a go at fans paying minimum £30 a pop for a meaningless friendly game.

Re: England v Wales
It was given as a Darlow own goal which it had to be, wouldn't have gone in otherwise.

Possibly getting mixed up with another Vokes header against Newcastle? I remember a header from the edge of the box at the Turf. Think it might even have been his last goal for us

Re: England v Wales
That’s a good ( if ironic ) point , but a meaningless midweek televised friendly ,watching Eng reserves against comedy opposition was always gonna be a tough sell .Goalkeeper wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 8:47 amBut you could be bothered posting about something you didn't watch?

Perhaps if the FA resurrected the” home internationals” as a mini tournament it may generate interest . Though with “ pretendy” tournaments like the International guff that’s the Nations League, it’s a forlorn hope .

No, it was definitely at SJP as I was there and an evening game if I remember rightly. I stand corrected (by CT) as I always thought the goal was credited to Vokes.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 11:26 amPossibly getting mixed up with another Vokes header against Newcastle?
