The attitude of some Rovers fans baffles me. They had their season in the sun under Uncle Jack and what an era it was for them; something they'll never forget. But they can't understand that it was all built on crumbly foundations. Spending above their means was never sustainable and The Venkys are showing just how poor a business model it was because one relegation has virtually killed the club. They blame The Venkys for their demise but I think it's clear that they're just the unfortunate fools left to deal with the aftermath of everything that happened before their reign.
You can only pay over the odds for success for so long. As soon as others with deeper pockets start doing the same you're done for. It's a sad tale for our neighbours but one we can all learn from. Accept where you are and learn to compete within your means. We're a proud, shining example of this.'
Well put jlup1980; they just don't get it; if the Venkys pull the plug, who is going to start stumping up £1 mill a month to keep them afloat ?; they had too many years of spending way too much, essentially the rich benefactors money, thinking they could buy whom ever they wanted and pay them ridiculous wages, and it would go on, like some la- la land fairy story, forever and ever.
Over a £100 mill in debt, with a previous similar sum written off by the Walker Trust. Unbelievable.
Well guess what, it's well and truly over.
And Amen to that.

The fact that a group of fans want Venkys to just write off £100,000,000 worth of debt and just walk away ...........
When these same fans can't give half an hour of their time to sit in a stand at Ewood and protest because they have work the next day ........
Absolutely comical

How long will it be before we are asked to play a friendly at Ewood to raise money for our dear neighbours (a la Acrington)?

I'll just be happy when they're rattling buckets at the turnstiles.
Just before their move to Pleasington and a new Tesco on their centre spot.
By the way, the David Reeves bucket still owes me fifty pence and some pesetas.....

Looking at them from a business consultant (change management and processes) with a degree of financial understanding point of view I can't see anything other than we're f*cked in the long term and fairly f*cked in the short term.

Re: Rovers wage bill last season.....
I understand that but i had said earlier that they had no player sales to recoup losses in next years accounts but had forgotten about the sales of Hanley and Duffy earlier in the season, that was me agreeing with the point 9thMay1987 made.Archer wrote:I think transfers are accounted in the Intangible Asset row - if so, turnover and transfer profit both down
Turnover will be below £10 Million this season compared to the £20 Million+ in these accounts (no parachute payments and lower crowds) and even though the wage bill will come down it will be nothing like it should have done, so expect a similar loss this season prior to players sales compared to the figures in this set of accounts..
It will mean they are fine with FFP but with little or no saleable assets left at the club, a possible relegation reducing TV income and a further reduction in gate receipts they are surely on the edge of a precipice in the very near future, one that without outside help (Venky's) or the club taking the drastic step of going into administration could take a generation to correct.
A bit like us.
Anybody who is old enough and has any sympathy for them should remember the years of **** we received at their hands.

I agree there, Goody. Barring a miracle takeover by a company happy to spend £millions wiping out the debts, and then bankrolling them to the Prem, I think they're going to be a mess for the next 10-15 years, especially if they get relegated this season. I suppose their only realistic hope is that they somehow grow a promotion winning side to the Prem. That's a real long shot.

If Saxo changed his name to Paxo maybe he could stuff the Venkys chicken.
