I must confess to an expectation that we are going to get this done.

It is a weird sensation as a Burnley fan, but we seem to have the muscle, the culture some players want, and the league position. Only the potential wage cap we will have is a handicap, but as Swansea shows, even £100m+ a year doesn't keep balls out of your net so I am very happy with the approach we take on that.

Back on?

here's been a lot of talk lately, maybe, maybe too much talk (sorry I'm a U2 fan) about the future of Robbie Brady.

Last week, The Mail reported that City had turned down two bids for their most wanted player (it would seem) from the Clarets but today they are reporting that Burnley have now upped their bid to £13m.

The initial fee would beat the Burnley club record of £10.5m that the Clarets paid for Jeff Hendrick, says the Mail

Presumably the rest would be in add ons or in instalments. You'd have to say that if true, this offer is pretty close to what he's worth.

Surely Robbie won't be a Norwich player come 1st February.

Is it just me or do others find these impending transfers just so stressful? Three windows following the Lansbury fiasco and now all these offers flying all over the place with it seems not a lot of certainty about any of them.

Why can't this all be resolved? By the sound of it the player wants to come to Burnley who, in turn have met Norwich's valuation and so what's the problem? Probably something to do with that scheming little scot presently in the manager's seat.

I agree dd. Brady is a quality player, I have seen him play numerous times and always been impressed with him. I think it's probably because we have been disappointed before in windows, that has an effect on us when we are linked with a quality player, that we will either a) not meet the selling clubs valuation; b) get outbid; or c) be unable to agree personal terms or another similar hick up (Grosicki)
It's great to seemingly be leading the pack in such a pursuit, and with things apparently aligning nicely relationships with current players and the fact that most agree he would fit the Dyche team mentality and has real quality, means i'll be a lot happier and chilled, when the deal is done.

I have to confess to not knowing anything about him. However, I will admit I did wonder about SD buying Heaton and then again with Gudmonnson. I was completely wrong both times.
So if he wants him, I am 100 % behind his choice.
Derby fans were telling Hendrick was a good game in six player but under SD he appeared to start that way but now looks fitter both mentally and physically. and becoming consistantly good.
My only observation is, can we get players to sign for longer than 3 years.
Also can we get SD on a lifetime contract.

Would that not be a 4 and a half year deal???

I just think 3 is too short, Gray has got better and better in his 18 months here, if he has a good second half of the season which I hope he does.
He will have year left left and that affects his value. He could just run his contract down and we get nothing. it just does not quite sit right.
If he had two years left he could be worth 25 million, who knows.

Tom Heaton signed a four year deal in the summer and that would be beyond para payments should we go down this year.

Did not know about those new rules.
Just read them.
So if you only stay up for one year, you get two years para.
If you stay up more than one year you get three years payments.

That could make it more dangerous if the contract is not written well.
