Not sure what 90 seconds of fans intent of watching game at other end of pitch proves.
Last second or two, proper chant??

Re: Burnley fans today

Look, I really don't want to argue with you, but, by and large, I think we make plenty of noise, both home and away. I'm judging this by, a) the away games I've been to over the last 25 years; b) the away support that comes to the Turf.
I'm not suggesting we're perfect, but tell me who's better, both in numbers (pro rata) and vocally.

Re: Burnley fans today
It's heartening to hear of the great support.
I think the fans will need to continue with it as they could be the difference.
Yes we never give up but we've lost our last 4 away 2-1 so no shame in that.
But...we'll be playing teams in the next 3 or 4 games that have got the bit between their teeth and will be just as up for it
as we might be except we'll be two (possibly three) of our best player out when we face them.
That's going to make it very difficult for us.
Let's hope Brady and Westwood can fill some of the gaps and make a difference.

You tell me 50 shades the reason for poor away form. I reckon lincoln will make more noise than we do thats my starter.

Re: Burnley fans today
I have no idea what the atmosphere was like but If it was anything like the last time we played Watford away, I feel for you. It's one of the reason I have given up the long away trips, I think the atmosphere since Coyle left has been pretty bad for whatever reason. Gone are the Chelsea/Spurs away, United (home) atmospheres. I think the sudden influx of ''new'' fans hasn't helped.

We are there in the photo cheers for that and the noise was tremendous in the away end.As we can't stand up for long periods we swooped our seats high up in the stand with two 15yr olds who were well happy with the swop.
A decent second half but again too much time wasted with subs put on too late.

Burnley fans are always poor vocally when in the London area. London clarets never get behind the team like the lanky and Yarkshire lads do.
Would have been louder if me and my mate have had got their, instead of sat of the bloody motorway for nigh on 3hrs at Birmingham

Re: Burnley fans today
For the position we found ourself in after 6 minutes the Burnley fans were fine.
Not like Man utd with a wall of constant noise but still plenty going on and nowhere near as bad as some of the southern games we've played in the past.
We had men, women and children around us and everyone was stood up. There was a section in the middle that was mostly sat down- nothing wrong with that, but left hand side/back and from a distant those closest to the home fans in out end were stood up.

I genuinely cant remember one good rendition of sean dyches claret and blue army - home or away, in his time here. Usually lasts four verses then thats it. Id say the fans might be sceptical after Coyle and how dumped us but dont even think its that. After all we love joey again.KRBFC wrote:I have no idea what the atmosphere was like but If it was anything like the last time we played Watford away, I feel for you. Re: Burnley fans today
I go to a lot of away games and, overall, I think the atmosphere is good. Most of the fans get behind the team. West Ham wasn't good but more because of the ground design than anything else. It's a ground I won't be rushing back to. However, we do have a section of fans who are more interested in goading the home fans than watching the game.
As for the seating v standing debate, I grew up watching from the Longside and Beehole end, but now, due to advanced years, prefer to sit. I can stand for an entire match but certainly know about it the following day. Sadly, not everyone can. There was an old guy behind us recently who couldn't stand and couldn't see. Everyone was stood up. Clearly, if you're going to enforce the standing ban, you need to start at the front. What about letting the concessions have the front seats so the younger ones can stand up behind them?
As for life in the Prem, despite a life long hatred of manure, I now find myself wanting them to win most weeks.
And does anyone else get a buzz when the stadium announcer tells us that the next opponents will be Chelsea or when you hear that Lincoln have ben drawn against "Premier League" Burnley?

Re: Burnley fans today
Our fans were fairly poor today, but what can you expect after being a man and goal down after 10 minutes, but we were loud in spells. What is far more embarrassing is our fans getting so angry about fans standing, seems to be a common theme of southern away games that our fans just come for a moan with their tartan blankets and flasks. I offered to swap seats with an older fan who refused, so if you try to help and they refuse then they can 'suffer'
Re: Burnley fans today
The away support was poor again yesterday, has been for a while now at these southern fixtures.
Yesterday was not the worst, that was Arsenal away the other week!
Too many day-trippers just sat there not offering one ounce of support for the team - they may as well just watch it at home.

There's a difference between " wanting to sit down" and "needing to sit down". The guy behind us wasn't capable of standing for 90 minutes. Should he stop going to away games?Sean Dyche's Watch wrote:What happens to the younger ones who want to sit down?

Re: Burnley fans today
Yesterday by chance we were in the section that were sat down for the game. when everyone in front of you is sat down, when in Rome springs to mind. 3 lads about 5 rows back wanted to stand and realised they were the only supporters standing, so they relocated. Fair play to them they went and joined those standing. There were enough empty seats closer to the front for the chap at the back to have found a seat amongst those seated.
The support yesterday was good, all things taken into consideration.

The "following" yesterday was really good, even though not every seat was sold, but in terms of atmosphere/vocal backing it's hardly surprising that by our regular standards it was a bit muted when a man is sent off and we're a goal down after 10 minutes!! AND having trailed the length and breadth of the country numerous times already lugging the worst away record in the western world we're bound to think here we go again! After our penalty the vocal backing really picked up because everyone sensed we were very much in the game and might just get something.

This thread pi$$es me off. I thought it was not bad yesterday. What do people want ... ? Southerners or second generation not turning up and we have half the away following? Now accepted sometimes like Brighton last year it could be louder but we didn't sell out so therefore so what? ... and before anyone says anything I'm from Colne originally...

I like how at the end of the video the chant of Burnley, Burnley, Burnley goes up, just after Cricketfield has tried to get the older people, women and kids (there's the clue my man)that are sat near him to sing.

There's a bloke near me on the Turf who must be a newbie because he seems to try and join in but sings 'coooome on, Burnley' rather than 'we are the Longside, Burnley'. He also remains muted or mumbles through the verse for the Lancashire Homes chant but when it gets to the main line he sings 'with a Lancashire Rose'... then goes quiet againTop Claret wrote:We are the longside Burnley must be one of the crappiest Burnley songs ever. Or is it a secret and new fans aren't allowed to know?
According to some on here in the last 24 hours, we don't sing, we're embarrassing and new fans (if we have any) should be looked down upon.
No wonder no one likes us.

No need to apologise.
Saying that he must be a newbie because he tries to join in, but sings the wrong words, then mumbles during lines of another song and then you finish with the rolling eyes smiley (which technically is looking up) is nothing to apologise for.

Re: Burnley fans today
Modern football is completely different to what many of us have experienced. No pay on the day, new complex membership schemes & loyalty point systems. Missing games not through choice.
No standing, and people arguing about it when we never even used to be able to sit down!
Now it's no beer in view of the pitch, no smoking, but thankfully no hooliganism. Now people are being excluded due to prices. Etc etc. And that's before we even start on transfers, windows, devalued Cups, salaries, agents, loyalty, diving, poncey prima donna's, Sky domination and crass Sutton/Savage style self centred punditry.
Would you rather 160 away fans being as loud as possible or c3000 being quietish? We all have our preferences.
I look back fondly but realise times have changed, and we could argue all week about the points that are better or worse, and what warrants real true support.
I tell you what is better. Burnley Football Club. Ground. Team. Attendances, away support numbers, board, tannoy, training facilities, infrastructure, dry powder, communications, finances, blah blah blah and......oh.......league position.
If you can get to the game, please go; if you like a sing song, sing loud and proud. If you like to stand up, be considerate.
I get individual opinions, free speech, purpose of message boards etc.....I went on Saturday, went back to the pub at half time, got home and despite losing, went to bed with a smirk on my face thinking it's not half bad to be a Claret. Our support is vital for the remaining fixtures, let's not bicker and simply all do 'our' best.

Atmosphere was fine nearer to the divide where I was, certainly didn't come out the ground and think we were poor, no did I think I would film people at football.
Why is there only 2 of your group joining in ?
What we need is more "ultras" maybe we could all wear black at away games, take silly banners and copy fans across europe, it certainly works for Palace

Im sure all the Burnley fans who were actually at Watford agree the last half hour was very vocal.
every Burnley fan i could see joined in with the chants, songs, clapping We gave it everything to lift the team.
If we had equalised the fans could of claimed the credit. I thought our fans were absolutely Magnificent in the
final 20-30 minutes of the game.

They had all given up by this point after 70 minutes of nothing from the fans and admittedly disappointing spectacle on the pitch. Must just have been where we were sat and the sound mysteriously didn't carry from the intensity to our right.

They had all given up by this point after 70 minutes of nothing from the fans and admittedly disappointing spectacle on the pitch. Must just have been where we were sat and the sound mysteriously didn't carry from the intensity to our right.

Re: Burnley fans today
We ended up in the ground 5 minutes into the game due to the horrific queue outside on the turnstiles. Knowing we were pretty near the front we took one look at the general area our seats were in and saw everyone was sat down. Immediately turned up the stairs and found somewhere relatively easily where everyone was standing. Although there were no problems it was clear a number of those around (particularly older supporters) were not happy to be standing but accepted there were 300 or so infront that were and so didn't kick up a fuss. Overall I thought the atmosphere was ok, good in the second half. It is clear in my opinion that there is a firm divide in the type of supporters that go to our away games, especially those in the south. Perhaps it is time to split our allocations into standing/seating areas, with standers at the back.
