Re: Burnley fans today
[quote Perhaps it is time to split our allocations into standing/seating areas, with standers at the back.[/quote]
I agree this should be done, but it won't be because officially you are breaking the rules by standing.
The old away grounds where we had 2000 on terrace and 500 in a seated paddock worked well and on the terrace little uns went to the front and big uns to the back.

Re: Burnley fans today
I think a few clubs get round this by referring to standing areas as 'singing sections'. I reckon the hardest part would be determining what percentage of the allocation to each side. A lot more fans prefer to stand at games like Blackburn and United than do at Southampton and Arsenal.

Re: Burnley fans today
I think that since it's the minority of people that complain about standing at away games, really the burden of proof should lay on them to resolve this.
The process to resolving this would actually be very easy but would require all clubs to subscribe to it.
1) Each club queries their database of fans that have purchased away tickets over the past 10 years.
2) Each club contact these members to ascertain their preference.
3) Those who state a preference for sitting down are then given an indicator on their records.
4) Announce and implement a new policy that you will be given confirmation via email that you have a reserved a seat but due to new seating preference optimization efforts, your seat and ticket will not be issued to you until the week up to the game (to allow time for people to purchase tickets)
5) A certain number of days before the game (always communicated well beforehand), use algorithm to allocate tickets. Those with the "sit down" check box ticked are matched with seat rows sequentially (A then B then C etc)
6) Issue tickets - Stewards are able to tell the difference betwixt the two in any queries as the away tickets and seats will be painted pink - you would quickly be able to see if a stander was encroaching in the seated area and vice versa by doing a quick visual check - ticket v seat. Stewards operating the front rows would be given additional customer empathy training.
Easy, after a middling amount of effort and weekly procedures that take no time to carry out, you have a solution.
If after all that you don't like the front rows, or what if you miss the cut off point, or but really you prefer a fuchsia shade instead of the pi.......it's tough. it's just tough ****. That's it then, every attempt has been made to accommodate you and no more effort will be made towards trying to placate you as it's not just you that matters.
I should work for the FA, damn I'm good.

Re: Burnley fans today
Ask them if they are sitting down in silence, if the answers yes, then wait for general sale.
Singing/supporting the team should be first priority over 5000 points anyway!
It isn't that hard to fan through the tickets and pick rows near the back/front should they be requested. If you don't request then it's abit of tough sh1t, you take the chance like the rest.
Like getting on a bus/train.
Pick someone to sit next to, then your in control, pick an empty seat and theres a good chance a BO riden big fat bloke may want to sit next ( on ) you..

Re: Burnley fans today
It's the same every season tbf, especially in games that are down south. I've no probs with 2nd generation "sit down and be quiet" fans or the older tartan blanket and flask brigade but they do seem to moan a bit. Its always a lottery away re:loaction of seat etc but it works both ways. How many times do u get to your seat to find a large group of "standers" and either have to make do/find an empty seat ? As an away stander is no probs for me but I can see why older fans would be a bit p1ssed off.Just the same as finding your sat with a group of "flasks and blankets" and cant get near the singing area.
It happens people should get over it

Re: Burnley fans today
I'm reliably told that there's a woman at Brighton (a season ticket holder) that takes her knitting to the games.
Things could get worse.

Re: Burnley fans today
The incidents you refer to were actually nothing to do with either football or drink. The lad was very angry cos some pr..ks on the coach had been very abusive to his girlfriend. Quite rightly he wanted to kill them and had to be restrained. Believe me, if you heard the comments you would know what I mean. So kindly keep your comments to yourself till you know the facts. The situation was resolved when those involved were separated and trvelled back on different coachesturbo5 wrote:I was there and our support was good in the 2nd half especially, we really got behnd the team, Never really heard the Watford fans, only some stupid hornet mascot banging a drum trying to get their fans going but failed.
More worryingly was seeing two seperate incidents of Burnley fans (under the influence no doubt) having a go at each other. First was some lad punching lamp posts outside the ground then the next time I see him he was trying to start a fight with someone in the concourse.(pre-game) the next incident appeared to be a guy who looked to be in his 40's 50's trying to punch someone (appeared very drunk) his mates were tring to stop him.
No need for this behaviour if you can't hold your drink give it up before you get arrested and banned from football.

If you have an issue sort it out in private not in the door way in an already overcrowed concourse. I don't know which incident you are refering to the one pre game or the one at half time. But from someone who was sober it looked pathetic to the passer by whatever the reason for anger. Fighting on a football match is not the way forward unless you want a ban and most probably jail time, just ask those from the Miners some were jailed and didn't throw punch

Turbo5.- Perhaps if some idiot threatened your wife/girlfriend with rape then you might react differently. This happened just before we got off the coach and it came to a head on the concourse. So sorry you and your young son couldn't get pastturbo5 wrote:So when I am trying to walk to the toliet with my young son and cant get past because people are swearing pushng and trying to fight each other its OK ?

That's absolutely disgusting and he should be banned from away games forever, you should never ever take your "girlfriend" to football, never mind an away game!Andy@Colne wrote:Turbo5.- Perhaps if some idiot threatened your wife/girlfriend with rape then you might react differently.
