Very interesting article that, thanks for posting.
On the whole, very complementary about what we are doing.
I had to laugh at this quote near the end though:
"There are probably other little things Burnley do to maximise their attacking chances, but one can only bear to watch so much of them for unpaid (or even, probably, paid) analysis."

I can't tell if they're pro Dyche or not?Tall Paul wrote:Good article for those interested in football analytics
Interesting analysis but gets a bit political towards the end...

Yeah, that bit was slightly below the belt, but to be fair, I wouldn't call our style of football particularly attractive for the neutral.Burnley_Mark wrote:Very interesting article that, thanks for posting.

It was the bulk of the article talking about the defence that I found most interesting.

It's a more attractive style than, say, Middlesbrough. They play possession football, which in their case means passing round the back for a dozen or so passes before coming under pressure and hoofing it upfield. Direct football played well is a lot more entertaining than possession football played badly.Tall Paul wrote:Yeah, that bit was slightly below the belt, but to be fair, I wouldn't call our style of football particularly attractive for the neutral.

Good read that. (Apart from that last bit!)
Cheers, Paul.
