Kante has been a big influence in Leicester's demise and Chelsea's rise. Personally think Ranieri didn't deserved to be sacked, but I hope they get relegated now.

I think you've got that absolutely right. Kante is a great player - even Chelsea are better with him in the team.minnieclaret wrote:The players haven't "let him down". They've gone back to what they always were. Average footballers.
Kante carried the whole team last season. Without him they have nothing.
Questions should be around what happened over the summer. LCFC win Premier League. Ranieri awarded new long contract to keep him there. Kante sold. Limited new signings brought in (though Slimani is good). Who was making the decisions?

Kante was a huge cog but they've stood still (gone backwards even) on the playing front.
You've still to try and evolve even if you're the Champions, even more so when there was plenty of luck involved.

Re: Ranieri sacked
Because your manager looks the best long term bet for you, similar to say how Pearson was for us. Ranieri is just not that despite what he achieved. For a glorious season he was perfect for that situation, he's not perfect for now and he's not perfect to lead us forward.summitclaret wrote:We get relegated and keep our manager. A team owned by foreigners win the PL and are in the last 16 of the CL and sack their manager. What a contrast.
The talking heads, other fans and celebs will slate us, but I don't care. What I care about is my club, and it was only going one way with him in charge. If you knew us, like we know us you'd understand. Even many sports writers get it, because they've seen us a fair amount and I can't get across how bad we have been.
We may go down, it's likely as we're so bad and I've accepted that. But we need to be looking at someone who fits the situation we're in and where we could be.
I'll love him forever, I've wanted him gone for a while but I've never stopped singing his name and neither has anyone else. Nobody wanted to lose him, but it's got to the point that it IS the best thing for the club long term. I'm talking 3/5/10 years from now, not just trying to stay up.
Re: Ranieri sacked
He is fantastic, but come on. The Chelsea team that's top won the league the season before us. The reason they were bad was because the manager lost the lot and then lost the players.minnieclaret wrote:Same man has made the same difference at Chelsea. fabulous footballer.
Claudio has been awful this year, nobody can get away from that. His decision making, tactics etc have been beyond belief. That leads to the player losing faith like Chelsea.
I don't expect top half finishes let alone title wins, but we should be able to play a bit of football. We did when we were bottom, now we're just a kick and rush team that can't pass for toffee.

That isn't say there aren't other clubs at the bottom with large wage bills, but that's unsustainable in the Championship. An exodus would be inevitable and they'd be back to where they were five years ago.
It's not just about this season, this is a long term decision. We may still go down, you ask any Leicester fan and we've pretty much accepted we will (well, before tonight anyway). I just need faith in someone long term. He's not managed the spirit, his team building has been awful... I'm sorry but if you stick with that for sentiment you're in deep trouble.
Re: Ranieri sacked
I agree with the decision, ranieri had lost the faith of, let's face it, Pearson's team.
Clean slate needed.

I'd love him, fantastic coach and would fit us perfectly. But he's your man, I respect you and what he's done for you and I wouldn't want him to leave for a club in our position. I don't know why he'd want to unless he fancied a nice wage.conyoviejo wrote:Keep yer hands of our Sean..

Would you like Pearson back Foxedup?
Re: Ranieri sacked
No, not for me. I loved the bloke and respect 100% how he tried to run a club. They might have different personalities, but I think him and Dyche try and do things the right way on and off the pitch (which is why I'd love Dyche... won't happen).Bin Ont Turf wrote:Would you like Pearson back Foxedup?
But, I think it's time to move past that now. He's no longer got Steve Walsh for recruitment who was just exceptional and that helped him so much.
If I'm going long term, with who is out of work it has to be Rowett. Fantastic job with the resources he had at Brum, we need someone to get the best out of what he's got. And if/when we go down you have a good long term option in place for the future.

My feeling is that the owners were bricking it at the prospect of relegation.
All those fancy new contracts and you can guarantee there will be no relegation clauses.

Rowett? For defending champions that's setting the bar way too low. There will be better managers than that willing to join with the prestige in which you are held currently. Rowett for Burnley maybe if dyche leaves..

Re: Ranieri sacked
"Losing the players" is a concept I struggle with.
If I was a boss and disliked by a bunch of my staff, they would still need to toe the line. Footballers at the top level don't think like that any more. Surely they should still respect him for what he contributed to the biggest success of their lives?
The only sympathy I can give them is if his tactical nous had gone. More likely though it is down to the player's motivation and desire. Keeping that maintained year after year makes you admire Ferguson and his players even more. I'm not convinced replacing Claudio will bring it back for this bunch.

He didn't build the team or the spirit, he was the right person at the right time. But he's not capable of managing the spirit, it's something you need to constantly work on. Shifting the right players in and out, the right contracts etc. He inherited that great spirit, but he's not managed it correctly. His team building has been awful. That can't continue no matter how sad it is.

Who is out there that's available or who would leave now? If we're prepared to wait until the summer you might get a higher class, but we might be down by then anyway and no longer a draw.
Plenty of people say Mancini, but I couldn't think of anything worse. The players need a Pearson / Dyche to get the best out of them.

Not disputing any of that foxedup.
What I'm saying is that the owners simply cannot afford for the club to be relegated. Those new contracts will have been negotiated with no consideration of relegation. Salaries of that magnitude are not sustainable in the Championship and yet that's exactly the situation the club will be faced with.

Re: Ranieri sacked
When Crystal Palace signed players in the January window the contracts will have relegation clauses written in to them of at least a 33 per cent reduction in salary if the club is relegated.
That would not have happened at Leicester where going down was not contemplated (but maybe should have been).
Shows how the vast sums of money in the PL have altered the state of football, from top Championship clubs fielding weakened teams in the FA Cup for fear of jeopardising promotion to the top tier and club owners sacking managers for fear of falling off the gravy train.

Re: Ranieri sacked
This Leicester fan is such a bullshitter. Ranieri was the Right person at the Right time. Give me strength , Leicester were a relegation contender at any time. What does he mean by the right time? Right time for what? To win the Premier League. Ranieri completed a MIRACLE.
Then we get that this is a long term decision. Rubbish, this is a decision brought about the immediate short term FEAR of relegation from a league that brings football clubs quite a decent percentage of a BILLION pound just for one season which if sustained gets you closer to that mind boggling figure.
This is a financial decision not a football decision . I may not be a Leicester fan but I still have good nostrils .

Re: Ranieri sacked
Ranieri has been sacked because Leicester are terrified of losing their PL status and the owner's representative admitted as much in his statement following the sacking. If relegation is such a terrifying prospect perhaps the relegation clauses are not in place as some would have people believe.
At the start of their title winning season many pundits were tipping Leicester to be relegated BECAUSE Ranieri (the tinker man) had been appointed manager. Remember Lineker's outburst on Twitter following his appointment.

I think this sacking just epitomises where football is today. Although I suppose nothing should surprise me, I think this guy deserves a little bit more respect than that shown to him tonight. He achieved the impossible last year. Last night was a good result in Europe all things considered and I don't think for a moment Leicester will get relegated. Surely to time to reassess the situation is at the end of the season.

The fact that some bookmakers have Leicester as short as 11/8 to go down means that it is a more likely scenario than their title win last season.

Teams like us and Leicester can only dream of winning the PL.
Ranieri made it happen, and they sacked him eight months later.
Whatever the hard, footballing reasons for sacking him, its still a decision that doesn't sit well.

Re: Ranieri sacked
Leicester were in a Lose Lose situation. There was only one way they were going if they kept him. Sack him and theres no loyalty blah blah blah. Right decision was made imo. Tough. But right.
Re: Ranieri sacked
He performed a miracle to win the league - something I doubt will be ever done again.
The contract he negotiated was great - performance related - he bagged £15m didn't he last year.
The players have let him down this year - Vardy and Marhez in particular. Both of them on £100k plus now with their new contracts - but players never get sacked.
Sacking him now seems ridiculous - but that is what you see at most clubs in our league now...total panic at the thought of being relegated.
When in this situation the owners have 2 options - sack the manager or hope the manager can turn it around. 9 times out of 10 it's the former.
3 teams still go down every year and invariabley those 3 teams have sacked their manager during the season.
I hope Leicester go down
And Boro
And Palace
And Bournemouth
And Sunderland
And Watford
As long as it's not us !
