Excellent justification for picking players who can do the job right now, not perhaps 5 years into the future.

How good is Keane though. A little bittersweet as you know that he getting more and more in demand but the lad deserves the best.

I've just compared Keane with Franz Beckenbauer on a football message board

Has he touched the ball yet.
Not dragging Keane down, but I could have won a cap today.

"Michael Keane looks very assured on his competitive debut for England here today, the Burnley centre-back made his debut for the Three Lions in the 1-0 defeat to Germany in midweek, playing alongside Gary Cahill and Chris Smalling in a back three in Dortmund. Today he is partnered by John Stones."

Franz could be auditioning for the boy in the striped pyjamas, the corrupt *******.
Robbed England of the 2006 World Cup as well. I hate the guy.

Well, I really enjoyed the zippy energetic football we played in Germany, however, this today is a bit of a yawn fest so far

I personally think Keane has been way off the standard required for England - he hasn't misplaced a pass yet

Proud. Certainly not done anything to make Southgate want to replace him. It's now his place to lose. £20 millon? I think we should make that £30-35 million.

Or better still - offer him a new contract and get Burnley to a top 10 side.

Love Michael Keane - never understood playing Duff ahead of him at the time. Gotta say though, Ben Mee must be proud of his partner, but thinking "what do I need to do?"

Right that is enough Michael - you have proved yourself to the doubters - get off come home safely and let Gibson have his chance - some silly challenges from them and we don't want you injured now do we and it will show England have better options than Jones and Smalling

Personally thought Keano has put a tad too much pressure on Hart with his back passes .., he thinks he's playing with Tom

Just highlighting the fact that Hart is a liability sometime in the match. Missed his punch on H/T, poor kicks out...iffy. come on our Tom.

That (non) off side decision before half time must be amongst the worst ever seen in a modern top class game. The Lithuanian was c 5 yards off side when the ball was played and still a couple "off side" after running backwards to receive the ball. Linesman can't have been watching that at all- perhaps nodded off.
