He's not even third best in our back 5, never mind world class.
Re: Ben Mee - World class
He's been great for us but describing him as world class is ridiculous

Re: Ben Mee - World class
His distribution stops him from being that but I'll gladly say he's Premier League standard, epitomizes our journey since the day he walked through the door, i'll be gutted the day he no longer plays for us

Re: Ben Mee - World class
He's been v good for us and epitomises everything about Burnleys rise in the SD era.Gives his all ,hard as nails and has even improved a bit too.
As for "world class" the OP is perhaps going through some sort of " sycophancy breakdown" as even with claret tinted specs (we all wear em) such a lavish description is a tad OTT in all fairness

Re: Ben Mee - World class
Ok may be over the top but in response to the nonsense of the other thread about the lad - he's class and works his nads off and a true true true true claret - he loves it at Burnley and that's good enough for me.
Still think he's world class !

Re: Ben Mee - World class
I`ve said on other threads that a Mee / Keane partnership would NOT look out of place in MOST top Premier league teams. Are City`s centre halves better/more reliable? Don`t think so. Liverpool`s? In my opinion, no. Would I rather have Jones, Smalling or Rojo (sp?)? Certainly not.
Keane does not carry Mee, either. Mee is an absolute rock. He is probably the best centre half I`ve seen at Burnley. OK, he`s no cultured Beckenbaueresque defender but what he does he does superbly and every team, EVERY team, needs a Mee.
World class no but PURE class, yes.

Re: Ben Mee - World class
Keane and Mee cost nowt between 'em. What are they both worth now ? Pound for pound, they are the best centre half pairing in the Prem.

Re: Ben Mee - World class
Mee as one expected has grown as a player, he has footballing intelligence. You certainly don't want both centre backs to be ball players, and Mee is that no nonsense sort of defender who reads the game and reacts to situations quicker than most. England could do worse than have him and Keane as their regular pairing.

You`re absolutely right and WHY NOT indeed! Nobody can possibly argue that Cahill and Smalling (laughing as I type this) are any better.ablueclaret wrote:Mee as one expected has grown as a player, he has footballing intelligence. Re: Ben Mee - World class
He's got better and better this season. He was rightly called out for a number of mistakes earlier in the season (but still playing well). He now seems to have cut out the errors.
I'd be considering him as a future captain and hopefully he's one of those that will stick around for the rest of his career, with us.

Re: Ben Mee - World class
Just about to say he'll captain us before he leaves, if he ever does!
Re: Ben Mee - World class
Always thought he'd be captain one day. Dyche went with experience after Shackell left by giving the armband to Heaton but he's come of age since and I've absolutely no doubt he'll captain our club in the future. Offer him a 5 year deal, he's got all the attributes to become a real club legend!

Ben reminds me in many ways of Brian Miller, and praise can't come much higher than that.
Not the most refined of players but worth his weight in gold to the current team.

In response to USC's question on the deleted thread, the OP said he was a liability, quite a few people responded by saying he's not. All football talk, pretty civil from what I read. I think it was started before this one. I think this thread was stared in response. Whatevs.
