Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
It couldn't have gone that much better could it? Sure, it would have been great to win at the weekend but we're effectively safe now. Rovers going down on goal difference is just the icing on the cake. But make no mistake, they 100% deserved relegation. They've been crap all season.

What's all this 'lets not gloat at them, etc' bol lox - erm, what planet have you been living on for the last 25 years, have you not heard the incessant shi te they've been coming out with ? They dished it out, they can fer kin well take it back by the bucket load. Give it 'em, big style.
Garner, Douglas, Sellers, Walker, Coyle, Dalgleish, that bloke in a chicken suit, fat bloke that used to bang a drum on the bburn end, saxo, loadsamoney, shearer, Mowbray Hendry et al, your boys took one hell of a beating.
There was a time, not that long ago, when I honestly thought they'd have the upper hand on us throughout my lifetime. Well they haven't, and AMEN to that.

Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
For those of us who have probably seen it all, maybe sixties is right and Rovers will rise again. Nothing stays the same and all that but by God we should enjoy every minute of their humiliation and heartbreak until then.
Those plastic fans deserve every bucket of **** coming their way. The real ones not so much but hey, life's a bitch. Not if you're a Claret though....

Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
In all honesty I almost feel sorry for Mowbray, he's done a really good job since taking over... almost too good!!! But what a way to end the weekend. Tremendous stuff. We're safe, they're down and I even won at golf today. It's my birthday on Tuesday but feel like I've already had my presents ha ha!!
All we need now is administration before they kick off in League One, a minus 10 starting position and League Two in a year. Happy dappy days!

Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
Somebody om their forum moaning that the FA shouldn't allow people to just throw money into clubs. You couldn't make it up after their history
"No. What the FA have allowed has nothing to do with football in any way shape or form. This is not a sport anymore, this is not sporting integrity. The "football" league is not about football anymore, it is a blind throw of the dice by corrupt businessmen who don't give the slightest toss about the supporters or anyone involved with the clubs they own. Yes the argument "money is corrupting football" has been sung since time immemorial, but this is different. The FA have engineered the destruction of our club, and their one and only defense is "well, sorry, Venkys passed the 'fit and proper' test.' If Venkys can pass a fit and proper test for ownership, then water is fire and night is day."

Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
Sad bstards were chanting Venkys name when they bought the club and promised Beckham.......all they ever wanted was another benefactor to buy them things and subsidise ticket prices, surely not a lot to want. Then the sad bstards trolled the internet expecting fans to support their campaign to get shut of the venkys and get another benefactor in so they could beat teams who they were asking to support them. Sad delude bunch of horse fiddlers who deserve everything they have got. F them hope they get liquidated.

Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
Will we now be Newcastle's derby game next season?
In one way I'm sad that we won't have any derby game again next season. I don't think we can really call any of the Manchester or Liverpool clubs a proper derby as we mean absolutely nothing to them other than as a team that they should beat.
However, I am not sad enough to want us to ever go down a division to get one.

Totally disagree.oswyclaret wrote:You forgot secret agent Mr Tony 'Magic' Mowbray who took them to the final game and got the win they thought they needed at Brentford, only for Forest and Brum to play their last card and totally boll%ks them up,what a master tactician that man is!!
I feared that he would be a good appointment when they got him, and he has done almost miraculously well since taking over, winning 5 games, and only losing 3 (out of 15), after Coyle had just won 7 in 31 games.
I doubt anyone thought he would get them to 51 points, and in fairness 50 is usually enough. (Who would have thought that Burton and Bristol City would do so well in the last 10 games, thus dragging Birmingham and Forest into it?)
Despite accepting the Rovers job, I still regard him as a manager with integrity, and he spoke really well despite the disappointment of winning his last 2 games but still going down.
I just hope that the Venkys make him the scapegoat for their relegation and pot him before next season, since - in their predicament - I'm sure they will struggle to find a better manager. (I also hope that he gets a decent pay-out)

Don't mind Tony Mowbray, tbh, not his fault he landed in the middle of all
the madness down at Deadwood.
However, if he's any sense, he'll sling his hook like Lambert when he twigged.

Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
To be fair when they beat us 5-0 at their place in the 1990's no. I worked at Queens Park or Royal Blackburn as it's known now and boy did I take some stick. Worked there in 1995 when they won the league too. I've put up with a tremendous amount of gloating from Blackburn Fans. Pity I no longer live in Lancashire as I could be gloating now.sixtiesclaret wrote:Sorry to be a damper on the hilarity but being a supporter since 1960 and so seen it all I take no glee in seeing Rovers relegated - wouldn't you rather see a local game against Rovers than trailing to Brighton et al??
Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
Oh but you can my friend! What we have now (and they didn't back in the 90s) is the wonder of social media....they're not going to know what's hit them, and the stick is going to continue for a long long time hopefully! Can't wait to dust off my paintshop and make a few pics when I get the chance!! Good times!

Re: BRILLIANT!! WHAT A WEEKEND!!!
Anyone else getting a bit annoyed by the Roverrrrs fans moaning that the FA have allowed this to happen!? What on earth are they on about? The Venkys still pay the bills don't they? They still pay the millions of pounds a year to keep the club running. It's ridiculous to suggest that FA have somehow turned a blind eye to wrong-doings.
From where I sit the Venkys made one silly mistake and that was sacking Big Fat Sam. I mean the club were always in debt but as long as they stayed in the PL they were ok, just about. As soon as they sacked Allardyce and got relegated it became about keeping the club afloat by reducing costs as much as they could.
At the end of the day they've sold assets, reduced the playing staff and background staff in order to stay in business not because they want to run their business into the ground! Even taking this debt management into account they were still haemorrhaging money. I've just copied this from the Lancashire Evening Telegraph from February; does this sounds like mismanagement?
"BLACKBURN Rovers reduced their pre-tax loss by almost £16m, but club debts still stand at more than £106m after the latest club accounts were published.
Rovers reduced pre-tax loss to £1.5m in the financial year to June 2016, a reduction of £15.8m from the 2015 figure of £17.3m, but net current liabilities are still £106,393,974.
The club have now almost halved their wage and salaries outlay since relegation from the top flight in the 2011/12 season. Then the wage bill stood at just over £50m, while last year wages were cut by £1.7m to £25.3m.
Turnover has reduced to £22m from £22.4m while matchday income has fallen by £0.6m. In 2015 this stood at £22.4m, but up until June 2016 it was £22m."
I'm not being funny but reducing losses by nearly £16m and bringing your wages pretty much in line with your turnover doesn't happen lightly, and taken at face value the Venkys appear to be trying their hardest to run the club without inflicting further debt. How else can they start chipping away at the outstanding liabilities? They're certainly not the actions of owners with absolutely no interest in the club. If they didn't care they'd just allow the club to fall into administration and oblivion. Maybe that'll happen next season and the Venky's Out campaign will get what they want... which ironically could end up being the last nail in the coffin of the club!

Weren't the losses reduced due to the sale of Rhodes and Hanley? That's a one off and they now have little in the way of saleable assets. I honestly think they will go into administration, which will just about put a top hat on this weekend

They were reduced massively by player sales of course but halving the wage bill since the PL will have done a lot of good for the accounts as well.Herts Clarets wrote:Weren't the losses reduced due to the sale of Rhodes and Hanley? "When you sell your best assets in trying to stay financially secure, they forget about where football clubs are built and that is on the grass." Kevin Gallacher on The Venky's.
Why does nobody seem to realise that without selling those assets to stay financially secure they potentially wouldn't even have a club anymore?! Is it that hard to understand?! You can't keep running at losses of their level, no matter who you are!
