That's Geordies for you. Only a top, top manager for their massive club, funded of course, by someone else. They have hounded out every manager since Kevin Keegan, except Shearer of course, who was such a failure that even he realised it and jumped ship.

Got sacked at Norwich after keeping them in the Prem. The fans never liked his style of football. He did follow Lambert though who did a great job there. I'm glad he's making them eat their words now.

When we lost 5-3 at West Ham, having been 5-0 down at one point, our manager was on Goals on Sunday the following day and blamed the referee Chris Foy for all five goals. He was laughed at by Chris Kamara who I assume thought it was unbelievable. I was baffled, Foy wasn't to blame, but it all became clear a few weeks later when we realised our manager was no more than a lying Scotsman.

Always comes across though as a decent intelligent manager and doesn't bitch and cry like some. I think the main reason people like him, me included, is the fact he doesn't bitch and cry as you've highlighted. How many managers have given us any credit over the past 3 years or so? I'm not suggesting opposition managers should be waxing lyrical about us, but when you compare how Sean speaks after games to others we certainly don't seem to get much respect. I think Conte came across well this season, that's about it. Everyone else we took points off just put it down to them being crap rather than us being half decent. How many times has Sean said the opposition are "a fine team" this year? It doesn't hurt to admit every so often that your team was out fought or out played. The problem is we're Burnley and no one can ever accept that's the case!!

Everyone else we took points off just put it down to them being crap rather than us being half decent.

They won The Southern League and then beat Villa I think (I'll check) who had won The Football League (we're talking 1910 here)


The 1910 FA Charity Shield was the third Charity Shield, a football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Football League and Southern League competitions. The match was played on 5 September 1910 between 1909–10 Football League winners Aston Villa and 1909–10 Southern League champions Brighton and Hove Albion. The match was played at Stamford Bridge, London, and ended with a 1–0 win for Brighton and Hove Albion. The goal was scored by Charlie Webb, an amateur, with 18 minutes of play remaining.

In the five years that the Charity Shield was contested by the winners of the Football League and Southern League between 1908 and 1912, this was the only occasion on which the Southern League champions prevailed. The victory remains Brighton and Hove Albion's only national honour to date.

Apart from The Southern League which they won, once and The Charity Shield the following year. Brighton have won Third Division South (1957-58) and it's equivalents (2001-02; 2010-11). The Fourth Division (1964-65) and it's equivalent (2000-01)

The Sussex Senior Challenge Cup (13 times) and The Sussex Royal Ulster Rifles Charity Cup (twice)
