Re: Jozo Simunovic
And Huddersfield according to Daily Mail.
Re: Jozo Simunovic
Be interesting if the Rangers/Newcastle links could scupper a deal there. Mike Ashley was heavily involved in that at some stage (may still be) loaning players etc. Bound to be some financial relationship.
May not normally be an issue but with it being the Auld Firm, Celtic may be reluctant to sell to Newcastle.

Re: Jozo Simunovic
If links are going to play any part in this deal I would think it will be more Huddersfield's. They signed the chief talent spotter from Celtic within days of promotion. He will probably have been the guy that brought Simunovic in and will have a relationship of sorts with the player.ThinLizzy wrote:Be interesting if the Rangers/Newcastle links could scupper a deal there. Re: Jozo Simunovic
Seeing on Twitter that they Huddersfield are also readying a bid for Patrick Roberts. Again he will be the player that brought Roberts to Celtic last summer so again will have a relationship of sorts with the player
Re: Jozo Simunovic
Roberts is a player I like. Have been following his progress through the England system. Looks a bit lightweight for the rigours of the Premier League and not sure he's a Dyche type player. I do like him though. He has talent.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Seeing on Twitter that they Huddersfield are also readying a bid for Patrick Roberts. Re: Jozo Simunovic
Wouldn't surprise me him getting a loan deal at Huddersfield if they are interested. Although from reports in Manchester Man City are looking to sell rather than loan, which within reason we should be looking at him as a potential signing
Re: Jozo Simunovic
Oh yes I'd definitely agree. Potential alone he is worth a punt. Naturally gifted. I don't know if you remember Chris Waddle in his heydey?! He reminds me of him (blot out Waddle's time with us lol) but more diminutive and a low centre of gravity. Certainly one I'd go for.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Wouldn't surprise me him getting a loan deal at Huddersfield if they are interested. Re: Jozo Simunovic
He is on £25k a week so he is within our budget if he wanted a slight bump on that. Biggest problem for me is Man City will want most of their money back and I just cannot see us spending 10 million plus on such a young player. I agree that I think he would be a great signing but wouldn't surprise me if someone like Bournemouth went in for him and blew us out of the water with the wages they will offer
Re: Jozo Simunovic
You could argue of course Cleveley's. We have consistently been improving talent over recent years, culminating in Tom Heaton and Michael Keane being England Internationals. There is the pulling power of money, but I'd argue if he talked to Keane and Heaton and the general set up of our club at present, not many young and ambitious players could fail to be impressed by the direction we are going. It depends what the individual wants I guess and if he's prepared to wait (ala Keane) or wants a quick buck.I remember my Dad waxing lyrical about Burnley's production line back in the day and although that isn't established YET, I think the seeds are being sewn again and for that I smile for my Dad. Hed be happy.Cleveleys_claret wrote:He is on £25k a week so he is within our budget if he wanted a slight bump on that. Re: Jozo Simunovic
I've never seen this guy play, but a Celtic supporting mate really rates him.

Re: Jozo Simunovic
I'd suggest he's thinking about a different player. He is only 5 foot 5 and probably likely to struggle chopping a banana looking at his statureMarney&Mee wrote:I've never seen this guy play, but a Celtic supporting mate really rates him.

Re: Jozo Simunovic
If Celtic's old boy is just going to sign their team for Huddersfield I think it's safe to say they'll be relegated.

Tiernay, Dembele, Simunovic, Sinclair, Roberts (loan last season), Armstrong would all challenge for a place in our team if not be first choice.TheFamilyCat wrote:If Celtic's old boy is just going to sign their team for Huddersfield I think it's safe to say they'll be relegated.

Possibly but i haven't seen them play. My post was just a bit of a joker referring to the popular belief that Celtic are nowhere near Premier League standard.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Tiernay, Dembele, Simunovic, Sinclair, Roberts (loan last season), Armstrong would all challenge for a place in our team if not be first choice.

Re: Jozo Simunovic
I do agree to a point that they would struggle in the Premiership but I don't think they would go down. The problem they have is the squad size for me, when playing uncompetitive football for weeks on end they can play substandard players which they would not be able to do in the prem. I mentioned 5/6 good players but the rest are very poor with the odd exception.......there is a foreign striker who looks half decent and wouldn't surprise me if we saw him in the prem in the next season or two

Re: Jozo Simunovic
He's certainly an interesting option, but its a hell of a step up from marking Ross Countys strike force to facing Agurero et al.
Still, his international experience is a big plus.
