Re: Thursday racing
For those that follow the golf PGA at least it's The Travellers Championship this weekend
Behind this week but having been through things it’s not so easy to come up with good fits as there are not really any clear trends with it. Last event form (US Open) it's suggested that those that go well in the US Open this don’t tend to go well here. Also there is history of winners coming from behind so I’m happy to initially pick out a few non US Open contenders at longer odds – then look to pick up some value picks in-play. I look at Day and Spieth as those at shorter odds looking to reverse US Open form – albeit Spieth didn’t contend he finished well with a 69 I will monitor these two for some value. Can’t explain Day’s performance last week – perhaps a blip in an upward trend…. He seemed to be returning to some form
Used the following to try and narrow down some picks for now and possibly in-play
· Not a long course
· Doesn’t favour either long or short hitters – both golfing types have had success here in the past. Driving distance and accuracy don’t appear to be a key factor (though obviously they will always help)
· Medium sized and slowish greens.
· High scoring event – could be an importance on who is hot with the putter this week (not always easy to predict). Also ability to make birdies (Par 4 Birdies or better stat)
· I will initially discount US Open contenders
· Mix of previous winners - Outsiders, PGA first time winners and old-pro's can be considered
· Winning from off the pace is common
· Stats used - SG Putting, PAR 4 Birdie or Better
· Course form not essential but is a related positive
Here’s 3 looking for first PGA tour wins that I have nibbled at for pre-play win/ e/w or Top 10/20
Anirban Lahiri 110/1- I noted this guy contend a couple of times last season he seems to get hot rounds in bursts and noted him again last time out at Memorial where he put together a very nice last round 65 for final day contention and (very quietly) finished Tied for 2nd place. His 3rd round was was also decent (69). Could be a player with momentum. He sits in the Top 20 P4 birdie’s or better stat – capable of low scoring rounds
Kevin Tway 80/1 - Comes in fresh after very solid form previously. Decent SG putting stats and solid all round game. He has got close a couple of times already this season – seems a hungry sort
Trey Mullinax – 150/1 . Nice performance at the US Open to finish T9 and this pick kind of goes against my strategy for this week but he looks to be on the up . I saw him last week and noted him to back next time out. The week before he was top 20 at the ST Jude Classic. This after a number of MC’s. Looking for first PGA tour win. Strong in Birdie and Putting averages

nice one on benbatl, sneaked on it yesterday!
Re: Thursday racing
Won with that one and backed most of the others with the winnings

Re: Thursday racing
I'm by no means an expert but Benbatyl seemed to be ridden perfectly there.

Re: Thursday racing
Dushanbe...Benbatl was drawn perfectly and was given a competent ride for a horse with that draw....drawn too low and they go too fast too early...drawn too wide and they either bomb it to the front or take their chance from the rear.....as I mentioned yesterday, I had lots of negatives for the others and Benbatl was the form horse with everything in his favour.....the 2nd horse ran a cracker and it would have been touch and go if that had had a better draw....also, the 2nd horse has a rounded action so would appreciate slower ground,...gone in my notebook.
Re: Thursday racing
Got a place on Indian at 25-1 !
How do you even notice these horses at prices like that, in need to start putting more on only £1 ew again
