Classy from Keano, mixed feelings about him and Boyd both leaving. I wish them both well and have no doubt they'll have a great season ahead but I do worry about our prospects. Mind you, I worried last close-season too.............
A pity Rovers couldn't sign him............They missed out on £30 mill ! Only £12 mill more than Saxprick gleefully predicted.
Ah well.

Shearer did not have the personality / character or class to thank the fans when he left you lot.

Great player I will admit (through gritted teeth !) but an arrogant two hat for sure.

As for Keano - great move for him and really nice words from him which makes me feel proud to be a Burnley fan.

Gutted that he won`t be in a claret shirt next year but delighted to have had him in our team for the last 3 years and seen him develop himself and make our team better.

Really glad he got that first England cap whilst he was a Burnley player as this has contributed to the growing respect the outside world has for our manager and the club in general.

All that said I hope when Everton play us he has 2 games which are reminiscent of our ex captains last visit for Derby to the Turf !!

What an amazing player we have had. To see him develop so quickly over 3 years is a credit to him and the coaches. We all know he was a class act on the pitch but you could, genuinely, see what a nice lad he was off the pitch.

I'm gutted to be losing both Keano and Boydy but I will fondly remember the unbelievable contribution they have made to our club. Good luck to them both, let's hope we have the replacements already lined up and then we build again.

Let's hope other prospective stars look at his parting words and it motivates them sufficiently to want to play and improve rather stagnate in some u23 squad somewhere. We will always be a selling club but at least if there's enough similarly minded young men about we'll get to see them play in our colours before they get their deserved big move and we get our big cheque.

I wish Michael Keane nothing but success. He's been mostly outstanding in the three years he's been with us, and his late equalisers against Brighton and Boro were something very special indeed.

Still, we move on and it's time for someone else to try and fill those enormous boots of his.

Good luck to him, nice words from him regarding the last 3 years as well, one question though, how do we know it's a record transfer fee when it's Undisclosed? :? :D

100% effort on the pitch, some fantastic performances for us to remember and seeing him develop into an England International.

That's how you leave a football club.

Well done MK, thank you and best of luck.

Fantastic player and role model.

Devastated to lose him, but wish him all the best and look forward to watching his career as he goes up and up.

Maybe one day he'll be the man to lead England to glory...

Thank you for everything Keano, goodbye and good luck x

He just might be leaving the best partnership he has in his career.

The great thing about playing for us was that he gets game time, was stretched, and was
learning all the while, not sure this is the best move he could have made.

Michael played a big part in our championship winning season, and also in keeping us up last term, oh and the small matter of 20+million profit, despite his time here i wasn't aware he played for Republic of Ireland under 17s before his England career began.
Hope we are now pro-active in the window and can build a squad capable of surviving again.Best of luck Michael in any future career, success will reflect well on Burnley as a club, and hopefully make us more attractive to potential signings.

Michael Keane since he first came to our club has continued to listen, develop and work hard. He was sensible enough to come here and work under a top battling centre half. Now he is moving to work with another centre half who will apply the finishing touches to his footballing development. Thankyou MK for your time with us and your classy way of dealing with your move away. I'm sure he will accomplish everything in the detail of the transfer to bring BFC more money over time. If he does choose to move on from Everton later in his career a sell on clause could boost our coffers even more, especially if transfer fees continue to explode as they are doing at the moment.

George Boyd has equally dealt with his transfer in a very classy and professional way.

All this reflects well on our club and our figurehead Mr Sean Dyche.

Congratulations, Michael Keane. I'm looking forward to enjoying your success in the seasons ahead with England.

Congratulations, Burnley FC. Created a great footballer and did "the business" in the right way. Now let's get on and do some more good business.

First chance I've had to comment since the deal went through, I was in a meeting last night when I hurriedly had to get the article on the site.

He was the player I voted for last season as our player of the year, ahead of Tom Heaton & Ben Mee, and there is no doubt for me that he'll be missed. He's developing into an outstanding centre half and one, I really do hope, who will become a mainstay of the England team for many years to come.

I don't know him although I've spoken to him twice. On both occasions he's been polite and certainly did not appear to have any edge to him, he just came across as a really decent young man and that's how others, who do know him, have viewed him when I've asked.

What is it about Everton? They do seem to nick our best players but as was the case with Dobbo and Trevor Steven, Keano goes with my best wishes and I'll look forward to seeing him play when Everton are on TV.

What a superb signing he was for us in every way.

The lad is the kind you would be happy to have as your son. Listens, learns and is respectful of others.

Thank you for the pleasure of seeing you grow in a Claret and blue shirt. I wish you a bright future, with tears only when you visit Turf Moor and lose, season after season!
Best wishes.

A great player for us and leaves us with some amazing moments - best of luck

Well done Everton for getting a great deal done in time for their pre season training

Bit of a shambles from BFC on the transfer front - no replacement in place despite half a year to find one.

Still- it can only get better

Lets hope this shambles long continues.

If winning the championship then staying up isn't enough to make you trust the board and manager maybe football isn't for you. The same people moaning someone isn't signed before pre season starts will be the same who will moan the whole of the January window (while ignoring their pre season needed stance) I used to think Blackburn had the monopoly on ungrateful fans, we blow them out the water.

Maybe we are doing the deals in private and there'll be some new faces in training tomorrow.

As for Keane, I thought we'd seen a future England CB when we had Cahill on loan - Keane surpassed that by being a current England CB
If Keane has the same trajectory of progression at Everton & gets the game time (which he should coz I can't see them spending that money for him to sit in bench) then I'm sure we'll see him in an England shirt many times, and for that we should be very proud to say he was one of ours

I know Cahill was considerably younger when he was with us, but I do think Keane will prove to be a far better player than him over their respective careers and that will take some achieving given what Cahill has achieved.

Utmost respect and understand him moving, to a degree. Not convinced they're going to offer him more than a higher wage this season. I.E: Not convinced Everton as a whole will finish top 6. So all he will have achieved is a higher wage, but hey ho.

Jim Heggarty at Centre Half...now that was a shambles, Billy Rodaway 2nd time round, Joe Gallagher. With all due respect to our younger posters, selling an International Centre Half to Everton for £25 million before having a replacement in ranks quite low in the pantheon of BFC defender related shambles.

Just when you think it is safe to come on this message board someone decides to mention Jim Heggarty who was one of Martin Buchan's big signings alongside Brian Chippendale.
