Wouldn't believe that, if there happened to be a picture of him with a Burnley representative at an airport, I might just start to believe it.

Why are we paying £10m plus add-ons for a midfielder who is low on the pecking order for his current team and still has 1 year left. Considering I'd say we are quite frugal in our bidding this just seems like a complete panic.

Because he's a good player and we can afford it. And it's £10m including add-ons.

Hardly low in the pecking order either, joint captain at Swansea and played 30 of their 38 league games last season.

If in a game next season Cork scores 2, sets up 2 and clears one of the line at 0-0 he will get a 4 in the ratings from kefka

1) It probably won't be ten million up front and even if it is, it's relatively cheap.
2) He wasn't low down the pecking order last season and has played more Premier League seasons than most of our squad.
3) He might have one year left, can't be bothered checking. Fair play.
4) We are quite frugal in our bidding. Fair play.
5) No panicking although people on this messageboard would very much like to believe that's the case.

2/5.

Why do we never sign players on long deals? I bet we've not even included a sell on clause.

The deal is up to £10 million, WITH ADD ONS, which I imagine will include us staying in the PL, in which case, it's paid for itself, and if we don't, we don't pay it.

I don't think clubs tend to make panic buys 11 days into a transfer window. That tends to happen more 11 hours before the transfer window closes.

Cork is a priority for Dyche. That's as clear as anything IMO. We're notorious for dragging our heels when spending money but we've gone straight in at the right level here and look like we'll tie up the deal pretty quickly.

For what it's worth I think it's a really good indication of where we are and what we want to achieve this summer. Between Cork and Walters we've brought in some quality PL experience for a relatively small outlay. Swansea fans will doubtless say he's not worth the money but he was a mainstay in their team for the majority of last season and he'll take some replacing for the same amount of cash.

yesterday's news though, from what i'd heard.

either way, it matters not. important thing is we're adding another sound midfielder to the squad.

if we can keep tintin, we'll have a good mix of ball players in there. should help make our playing style easier on the eye.

I'd be surprised if a portion of that £8 million wasn't conditional on certain appearance thresholds being met over the next year or so, too.

Good signing, good experienced head with plenty of years left in his locker and plenty of quality as well.

A player I would have loved for us to sign when he was first with us. It could be complete nonsense, but I seem to remember some comment at the time, that we couldn't afford him and another player (McCann?) although suspect we were blown out of the water when it came to wages back then.

Cork was great for us when we had him and he's surely improved further as a player since then. Yes, I'd prefer someone perhaps a little younger but his experience will be invaluable.

A good solid signing that brings competition to midfield - hopefully not the end of our midfield dealing though.

Good signing, still need someone with a bit of creativity in the middle but we've got a few options now.
I think taking a captain from another team will do us some good, Barton at his best would be the outfield captain and help organise from the middle. Hopefully Cork can do the same.

My "Like" for "tintin" - my first thought was "who's that, when did he sign..." I do hope that Steven Defour stays and delivers on all he promised last season.

And, I'm very pleased that Jack Cork is re-joining the Clarets. It also shows how far we have progressed and continue to progress.

I think they offered him 30k a week and that was 5 years ago when we were in the Championship.
