Re: Britt Assombalonga
Or perhaps Forest hoping to grab a few million extra for him. True that they know each other and I can't remember a player ever saying a bad word about SD. Hopefully that, PL football, Great new facilities and playing for the greatest club in Britain may help.
Re: Britt Assombalonga
I also think that there has been an article or two that has indicated that a move to the Premier League would be his preference.mybloodisclaret wrote:I think that what he means is that people talk. I'd be very surprised if it isn't his agent doing the talking mind. I think everyone knows how tight the inner circle is kept at Burnley. Could also just be click bait.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
Because all the local press speculation at both ends implies that Assombalonga isnt that sure about the money Boro are throwing at him and Forest, and the implication is that we've had some encouragement from somewhere to make another bid. But its highly speculative admittedly.Reecey1987 wrote:How do you work that out ? He's still in america

Imagine if we did sign him for less money than boro offered and also a lot less wages . Boro would love us

Re: Britt Assombalonga
Its ultimately going to boil down to which league he wants to play in this season.
There is zero guarantee Boro can offer him PL football next season whilst we can guarantee it this season.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
I think we will match Middlesbrough's bid and will get him. Despite what Nixon said, the fee is not too high for us, and we have already paid £13 million and £10.5 million or two championship players previously, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

No and plus the fact he's played for Dyche previously may help swing it in our favour.
Re: Britt Assombalonga
If the rumours of boro offering him £60k a week are true then that's too high for us. Sorry but he's a championship player who was involved in a relegation battle last season injury or no injury he ain't worth 60k a week.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Nixon tweeted fee and wages too high for us. Even Boro fans are coughing at offering him that much in wages and normally they don't care.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
Hmmm who would I choose between a right back at Luton for £1m or Darikwa who played a fair number of times for a Championship winning side who then became a Prem team who decided they would keep him as part of their squad for last season ? Well if I had a player for whom I might receive £15m or so if I sold him and I had any ambition I think I might choose Darikwa but that's only my opinion. Of course the Luton player might become a world beater or perhaps he might not.Reecey1987 wrote:Forest are after a right back from luton for 1 million pound . Re: Britt Assombalonga
Imagine the disaster of paying £14m and £60k a week to a player if you didn't get promotion especially if on a long term contract. Assombalonga would then be an expensive ornament and difficult to move on without making a big loss and he may never fulfil his dream. Come on Brit you need Prem football now and not play for a Championship team who might never get there.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
I can't imagine Forest, given their precarious financial position with regards to previous FFP failings, would spunk a seven figure sum on someone they didn't expect to be in and around the first team.

Think that we are in pole position to get him now, looks like we have been encouraged in some way as even that Boro have offered crazy money he definitely wants to be in the Premier League.
It also means that Andre might be going.

I fail to see the connection in Assombalonga coming in and Gray leaving. We need someone a bit different up front. If Gray leaves it means we're still in need of another striker.ClaretBauer wrote:Think that we are in pole position to get him now, looks like we have been encouraged in some way as even that Boro have offered crazy money he definitely wants to be in the Premier League.

I have it on good authority, page 3 of this (it could have been 4 or 6) that we have put a bid in for him and he will be signing tomorrow or Monday or sometime in the future dependent on what his Gran decides

Re: Britt Assombalonga
Is he that different to Gray ? If Gray stays we need a number 10 to offer something different. Then we would have a 9, 10, Gray and bruiser Barnes. I'm assuming we won't play the old grey hair lad from Stoke centrally, maybe we will.ExistentialWanderer wrote:I fail to see the connection in Assombalonga coming in and Gray leaving. Re: Britt Assombalonga
I'd tend to agree that we need a number 10. From what I have seen of him, which granted is not a massive amount. I'd say he does offer something different, but he's no number 10. My point being if this is a case of bringing in Assombalonga to free up Gray's sale. We'd still need another striker, as you say, preferably of the number 10 ilk. I'd be somewhat worried if we lose Gray and only brought in AssombalongaSkiptonClaret wrote:Is he that different to Gray ? If Gray stays we need a number 10 to offer something different. Re: Britt Assombalonga
I’d like to try Assombalonga and Gray up top personally.
I don’t think wages would be the problem, couldn’t we just give him a big signing on fee to counteract the wage difference?

Re: Britt Assombalonga
Offer a bonus similar to last season. The incentive should get the best out of the player rather than doing a Boro and just chucking as much money at him as you can up front.
Re: Britt Assombalonga
I think if he comes in Gray will be off. Then we just need cover for RB and a CB ) Dawson
Could do both ) Then we have cover for everywhere. We could just do with a bIt of flair or a number 10 type link player.

Still the only thing the Moose has every scooped anyone on.
Talksport were talking about Lukakus move to Chelsea as a "done deal" when the BBC broke the story that he was going to United.
Basically, we won't know till we know!

Doing four nights in a self catering apartment near the Coliseum, then six at a Eurocamp on the outskirts of the city(also self catering).
Lady Beamish got a great deal on both.
Rome is quite expensive, but we have done our research on where to eat, and which scams to avoid falling for.
I now have the joy of carrying my three and a half year old all over a hot, sweaty, busy Rome for four days until we can relax in the pools at the campsite for a few days.
