The maternity home where I was born on Barkerhouse Rd Nelson was Fern Lea. The recovery hospital near the college was Reedyford Hospital

You learn something every day... Pretty sure it was on Netherfield Rd though (opposite the Spar shop now).

Kevin Hird is a local lad who played for Leeds in first division, also Blackurn and Burnley. I know the post is about Burnley born, but just thought I would mention it anyway.
