One of the benefits of all this money is that we can set up our own GCHQ type listening station where people like ecc are employed to monitor European radio stations for titbits of information.FactualFrank wrote:What are you doing randomly listening to french radio stations? But yeah he would offer us something different, and with our midfield's passing capabilities he could be a very exciting addition.

Burnley. Closing on a new forward ... but it's not the lad Waris. Won't pay the 10m fee. Not got the name yet but he's domestic.

Re: Abdul majeed waris
If we won't pay the £10 million for Waris then it certainly isn't Deeney or Long.
Re: Abdul majeed waris
Screams Nakhi Wells for 6m.
Re: Abdul majeed waris
Don't understand this logic. It's being suggested they won't pay £10m for Waris but that doesn't mean they wouldn't for someone else. The club will have a good idea what they would stretch to for each player and that will obviously vary from player to player.Steddyman wrote:If we won't pay the £10 million for Waris then it certainly isn't Deeney or Long.

If we aint prepared to pay 10 million for waris who will most likely be on 30 grand a week we aint going to be buying deeney who will most probably be on over 70 grand a week and cost well over 15 million
Re: Abdul majeed waris
No I don't think we'd be able to get Deeney even if we wanted him. But that wasn't my point.
Re: Abdul majeed waris
Abel Hernandez would be a good option. Would be somewhat underwhelmed with Nakhi Wells.

I'd go further, he's got zero goal threat when he's injured.

Won't pay £10m for one player so that means we won't pay more for a totally different player.
Suppose it stacks up though. We didn't want to pay more than £3m for Walters so no chance we were going to shell out £15m on Wood.......oh hang on a minute......

Walters was bought to add backup and experience in the dressing room. Totally different player to Wood.
Waris is to add pace to replace Gray. We clearly have a set amount we wish to pay.

Re: Abdul majeed waris
It's more clear that we have a set amount that we value a player at and are unwilling to spend more than we believe that player is worth. Which is totally logical.Steddyman wrote:Walters was bought to add backup and experience in the dressing room. Totally different player to Wood.

Assume there are doubts about him.
£10m is pretty cheap in this "market" if there was a genuine belief he could be an effective player for us.
