Seans Wallet
Do you think we've spent more in the last few seasons on transfers than we've spent in our entire history?

Re: Seans Wallet
Probably, but we're still in significant profit having made more money that at any time in our history

Re: Seans Wallet
I remember when we had United at home for Di Maria's debut it was announced then that United had spent more on Di Maria, £56 million I think, than Burnley had spent in their entire history.starting_11 wrote:Do you think we've spent more in the last few seasons on transfers than we've spent in our entire history?
So I believe since Dyche took over in 2012 the transfers he has made have totalled over £56 million so he as a manager has spent more that we had in our history but also the sales we have made as a net total I think he could be pretty much even if not in profit.

Drew that game didn't we? Played well and made di Maria largely look ordinary.claretburns wrote:I remember when we had United at home for Di Maria's debut it was announced then that United had spent more on Di Maria, £56 million I think, than Burnley had spent in their entire history.

Re: Seans Wallet
Didn't Michael Duff despatch di Maria into the hoardings?
Re: Seans Wallet
I think we may find that our salary cap has shot up over the last two seasons and is taking a bigger slice of the Sky and other money

Re: Seans Wallet
Would that be the Michael Duff who we bought for £30,000 !!COBBLE wrote:Didn't Michael Duff despatch di Maria into the hoardings?

Jimmy McIlroy & Alex Elder cost £12,000 between them, Frank Casper & Peter Noble £70,000 for the pair.. and those four were our major signings from 1950 - 1973...the vast majority of players being developed at Gawthorpe...
It's interesting how often Everton appear in our major sales, from Tommy Lawton ( £6,500 ) in 1937, through Martin Dobson and Trevor Steven ( £300,000 ) each to Michael Kean ( £25,000,000 plus add-ons )...
Re: Seans Wallet
The Sky money is significantly higher than it has ever been. The wages haven't increased in.proportion to that.mdd2 wrote:I think we may find that our salary cap has shot up over the last two seasons and is taking a bigger slice of the Sky and other money

I guess that's the point. Money doesn't guarantee anything.TheFamilyCat wrote:Di Maria spent his whole time in England looking largely ordinary.

Plus Colin Waldron (£30,000), Jim Thomson (£40,000) and Paul Fletcher (£60,000) I think.Clarets4me wrote:Would that be the Michael Duff who we bought for £30,000 !!![]()

I presume we bought Alan Stevenson too but I can't recall the fee.
