Abdul majeed waris
Re: Abdul majeed waris
Seems very strange that we've only now determined that a work permit, alongside other things, becomes the issue (or issue that broke the camels back, if you will).
Have we really gone from him to Wells a day before the window closes? I'm sure there must be more to it than what we hear, but on face value it sounds very haphazard.
Andone to Waris to Wells! Unless there are other irons in a fire somewhere.

Not entirely true,I think you'll find they work side by side both parties agreed on new regulations set out a couple of years ago.ClaretTony wrote:The FA have nothing to do with work permits - it's the Home Office.

There could be all kinds of reasons we haven't been able to sign Andone or Waris but no reason why we can't sign Wells.
Isn't that basically what having irons in the fire is?
Nobody but those at the club know who our preferred choice was. Maybe we have actually landed the player we wanted all along.

They worked together to agree new guidelines but work permits are a Government matter and it will be a Home Office decision.Billyhamilton1982 wrote:Not entirely true,I think you'll find they work side by side both parties agreed on new regulations set out a couple of years ago.

Re: Abdul majeed waris
If you are basing that on my post you've mis-read. From what I believe the Waris deal was dead last week despite the continued speculation and it wasn't just the potential work permit issue. But we don't jump from one to another as you put it the day before the window closes. I certainly knew about Wells four days ago and I would imagine it has been going for some considerable time prior to that.DCWat wrote:Seems very strange that we've only now determined that a work permit, alongside other things, becomes the issue (or issue that broke the camels back, if you will).

Re: Abdul majeed waris
There was a tweet not long after last season ended that we were interested in him. It was from Jason O'Connor, a West Ham fan and all things Irish, who came good in terms of information with the Brady deal. He then made a reference a couple of weeks ago but I don't think I've seen anything other than that.ClaretAL wrote:Was the Shane Long rumour just made up on here or was there something in it?

You can drink in celebration or drink in sorrow. Beer doesn't mind. I might have a kebab to accompany my beer

Re: Abdul majeed waris
Sounds like he is very much in demand now. Posted a few times about him after watching him for Red Star.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Personally wouldnt bother at that price for him. Would rather if we were spending that much on someone from abroad its someone a bit more proven. Teams in those leagues (generally speaking) arent as wealthy as most clubs in England. So should be able to get much better for that money.
One player I posted that would be worth watching (also Ghanaian) Richmond Boakye is on absolute fire. Ex Juve. Averaging a goal a game and has already scored 7 Europa league qualifier goals in 6 games this summer. Not saying he is cut out for the prem but would be worth a gamble. Zvezda signed him on a free!
Chelsea, Everton and West Brom now following him!

What's the rolling eyes for?
Did you send a scouting report in to Burnley and they ignored it?

No I alerted them and boden to two previous prospects. A season or two later One went to Liverpool for 5m and one benfica for 4m. Couldnt be bothered mentioning Boakye.Bin Ont Turf wrote:What's the rolling eyes for?
