It was a real shame that it was demolished, but I suppose it would have been difficult to maintain a building like that in Burnley once it was no longer viable as a cinema.
Many on here will recall how magnificent it was, and for those who don't know, it was just by the roundabout near the culvert, where there is now a Poundstretcher. (Some may recall that it was originally demolished for a Sainsburys, before Sainsbury's relocated to its present site).

Great to see this old photos, my father was the manager of the Odeon from 1966 until its closure, so I spent some time in that place as a kid. Shame it was closed, but it was too big to be viable. My dad said it was considered for convertion by Rank for multiplexing but the public support at the time was poor.
