I'm happy if Sean Dyche is.

YES
The misery gut doubters didn't want Heaton, Scotty, Joey,Barnes and probably Wood
Great value at £5m and in Dyche I Trust

Re: Quick no fuss poll
There's a lot more reasonable arguments as to why he's a decent signing for us and a lot saying they're worried it's a bad move for them. I'm a bit more mollified reading that.Vegas Claret wrote:Seems very split. Some think he's not good enough whilst others do.
Thanks Spijed that's even more confusing![]()

on the poll though my initial reaction is No. If we bring in a CB it's a small yes
Re: Quick no fuss poll
It would depend if he was the only signing between now and the TW closing....

Why bringing in a CB is it a small yes.BabylonClaret wrote: on the poll though my initial reaction is No. If we bring in a CB it's a small yes
Question was about wells.
For the money yes.

Yes, however I'm struggling with the fact he is recovering from an injury with little or no pre season, which suggests he won't figure for a while.

definately yes, why would we even be in for him otherwise. He will be a revalation. All the doubters will be proved wrong.

Re: Quick no fuss poll
Because we need another CB. We could manage without Wells. If it's Wells and noone else then I'm not happy at all.Jeffbfc wrote:Why bringing in a CB is it a small yes.

. I'm a bit ambivalent about this one. My first instinct was that he isn't good enough but to be honest I don't know enough about him to judge how well he'd fit into our squad. The Huddersfield fans seem divided although more of them seem to think he needs replacing if he goes so they seem to rate him enough to think 5m is a decent deal for us.

Re: Quick no fuss poll
If SD wanted to bring Sordell back I would support him. He has earned that support. I don't care if he wants to bring Brian Flynn back as cover for midfield. I trust SD and I trust the best board the club has had in my 40 years. They are trying to get the best players in what budget they think is correct. Between them they haven't gone to far wrong so far as far as I can see.

Re: Quick no fuss poll
No, but I'll back Dyche's judgement.
My reasons for no are that I don't see him to be of the level that we require. I want a player that will add to our first eleven, one that could offer decent pace out wide or up top. Last season maybe but this I'd hoped we were aiming that bit higher and was pleased to see that we appeared to be scouting more in Europe.
He does offer something different but not necessarily quite what we needed. His goal scoring record is reasonable and he does work reasonably hard but unless we are going for a big man little man combo in a 4-4-2 (which is a good option to have but one I hope we are moving away from predominantly) £5m, although not a big sum in the grand scheme, it seems a lot to spend on someone with little potential resale and a limited threat to the starting 11.
I'd far rather see players with potential, or those with experience of the league being brought in, not ones whose main work has come in the lower divisions (or at least if they are - ones of a better age). You never know though, he may become our Vardy.
If we bring in a wide man and a centre half of quality (sounding unlikely) I'd be far happier. Without these, Wells seems a tad extravagant when the money could have been more effectively utilised on other positions for quality back up in defence or for a starting winger / number 10.
From the good few times I've seen him for both Bradford City and Huddersfield, I've never been that impressed and he's always been a player I've watched because of the local noise around him, whilst at City.
At least his names good for a plethora of **** puns.

Re: Quick no fuss poll
Given we have tracked him before and in todays transfer market he is easily worth £5m then I would be happy enough as we do need a fourth striker. However therefore I would be annoyed if we lost Barnes. We also still need another CB and a right winger and given what we have spent to date I would hope we would be prepared to splash out a bit to get them.

How would they know they have only played three games in this league anyway and half of them proberbly think they are going to win it with the start they have had they know nowt yet

I love posts like this.summitclaret wrote:A 1000 times no. Unbelievable signing which will make my blood boil if Barnes goes.
Given our current resources and standing we would deservedly be laughed at by the national media.
If there is no cb capable of starting in the PL here by the deadline, this window has been very poor overall. Without Cork and Taylor a disaster.
I can picture an irate Claret (probably short and tubby) with a puce face, pacing up and down with steam coming out of his ears. And snapping at his poor wife when she tells him his toad in the hole is ready.
Am I right?
