Next target is 520 & then 564 to try and get past Walsh & McGrath.
Only 301 to go for.....

Brilliant Jimmy.
Some skill and dedication he's shown throughout his career. A truly outstanding sporting achievement.

It's madness - especially looking at how good some bowlers on the list of wickets taken are/were and how they havent even had half of those that Muralitharan/Warne have.

Not seen them all so impossible to say.
That dismissal of Powell was sublime. Knew he was out but still had to look back to try to get his head around it.

Bob Willis has just described him as the best bowler of all time in English conditions. He called him a magician.
After the last two Olympics, Burnley FC have rightly invited the local Olympians to the Turf. I hope we see England's brilliant bowler gracing the Turf sometime soon.

LOL at Bedfords...... you really should appreciate Englands greatest ever bowler whilst you are watching him. And stop sticking up for Piggy Smith.... next you'll be saying Watto's a good lad.
Englands greatest, Lancashire's Greatest, Burnley's Greatest.......

How many more might he have if he hadn't had that period out of the side when they tried to bugger about with his action.

Years ago I recall watching a Lancs v Yorks Roses match on TV in which a young Jimmy Anderson was playing. Darren Lehman said that Anderson was the only bowler in England who had made him jump and play on the back foot and predicted a successful career for the Burnley lad. He wasn't wrong!

Quite an affectionate, brief, recognition of JA's achievements by Swanny at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/41073968
His grumpiness really came through later today. Easy to knock for an outsider but just what you want in a fast bowler playing for your side.

Jimmy and Shane Warne are far and away the most intelligent bowlers that I have seen in my 51 years.
Warne has probably more natural ability but Jimmy's thought process is brilliant.

Well done Jimmy.
The delivery to get his 500th was typical and consistent of him.
Line and length bob on and in full control of the ball.

Well done Jimmy on the 500

ly still more work to be done to secure this test match yet, any target over 120+ could be tricky to chase this is a

series.

Just read this thread. Just going back to Ban Stokes and the Ashes. The Aussies are planning to target him for sledging. They're hoping he'll bite and get banned for a test or two.
David Warner is an excellent batsman, but he sometimes forgets that he's playing in a test rather than a T20.

Brilliant achievement. Good to see former fast bowlers congratulating him like Walsh and Lee. Probably the most intelligent pace bowler I've ever seen. Congratulations Jimmy!

Get him to do the draw v Huddersfield. It's my birthday, he might be calling up for that if he's nothing else on. ( quite possibly and deservedly on holiday though if no other duties )

I wouldn't do that, but I'd invite him at the first opportunity to come out onto the pitch as we've done for the Olympians in 2012 & 2016.

Sorry was a touch tongue in cheek.
It certainly would be nice for him to have a lap of honour and a round of applause.
After all he must be Burnley's finest ever sportsman.

It will be very interesting to see if he gets a Knighthood. Lesser cricketing "giants" have received this honour.
Here's the full list of English cricketing Knights. (n.b. Botham not included as his Knighthood wasn't for "services to cricket".)
Sir George Oswald Browning "Gubby" Allen CBE (born in Australia; 1902 – 1989), knighted for services to cricket in 1986.
Sir Alec Victor Bedser CBE (1918–2010), knighted for services to cricket in 1996.
Sir John Frederick Neville Cardus CBE (1888–1975), knighted in 1967 for services to music and cricket journalism. Did not play first-class cricket
The Rt Hon. The Lord Cowdrey of Tonbridge CBE (1932–2000), knighted in 1992 for services to cricket.
Sir John Berry "Jack" Hobbs (1882–1963), knighted for services to cricket in 1953.
Sir Leonard "Len" Hutton (1916–1990), knighted for services to cricket in 1956.
Sir Francis Eden Lacey (1859–1946), the first person to be knighted (1926) for services to cricket, or indeed any sport; these included his role as the Secretary of the MCC from 1898 to 1926.
Sir Henry Dudley Gresham "Shrimp" Leveson-Gower (1873–1954), knighted in 1953 for services to cricket.
Sir Frederick Charles Toone (1868–1930), knighted in 1929 for services to cricket.
Sir Pelham Francis "Plum" Warner MBE (born in Trinidad; 1873-1963), knighted in 1937 for services to cricket

Keep things in perspective lads! Jimmy conceded more runs than any teammate in that match. Still plenty of room for improvement.

Cowdrey & Botham the only England players knighted in my time watching cricket. I'd have thought there might have been more. If Jimmy isn't to get that honour I can't imagine what someone would have to achieve to get it.
