Eh?
We've only got 2 out injured haven't we?
Marney we aren't missing nowadays and we've got what potentially looks like an adequate replacement for Heaton.

So amusing when you have a reserve in goal that's an unknown quantity. Watch for the opposition firing in long range efforts to test his nerve.

I think that is the problem for a keeper compared with n outfield player. Today Tom came out jumped cuaght the ball with both hand was un balanced and fell. As a keeper he couldn't try to break his fall with his arms and that scanario occurs most games. If he has dislocated that shoulder, chances are he will do it again OR not make the calls to avoid landing on his left shoulder again. It is a worrypaulus the woodgnome wrote:Bryan Robson dislocated his at least 3 times I recall. Tbh Heaton would have been better off breaking a limb. Bloody bad news for someone who spends his time chucking himself on the deck.

Re: Heaton
Straight forward
Dislocation shoulder intact put it back in couple of weeks for swelling and bruising.
Dislocation Rotator cuff ripped operation 2 weeks
6 weeks for recovery 2 weeks trading - 2 months

Re: Heaton
Really strange seeing him walking off. Having dislocated my own 4 times. You generally need the arm supported from the elbow...the photo I've seen shows one arm down unsupported and the other thrown over medics shoulder....strange.
Re: Heaton
I hope you are fight BC but I stand by what I said about a keeper and dislocations. If he has done his shoulder it will be a few months

Yes he will at some point concede some but so far its 4 clean sheets in 5 games for us including vs Rovers.

Pope doesn't look bad but if he gets injured we will be in trouble. Perhaps, as someone said, Paul Robinson, could be persuaded to come back for a while. He wouldn't have anything to lose and could help the club out.

Is anything confirmed injury wise?
It would be strange if it was a dislocation as he clapped the CF end as he was walking off. The pain wouldn't let you do that would it?

Re: Heaton
I used to be a goalie back in the day, and I dislocated mine when I was 26. I'm not familiar with all the technical medical terms mentioned above, but mine was caused by a strikers knee going into my shoulder blade when I was trying to intercept a cross.
I ended up with my shoulder out in front of my chest, but the worst bit about it was that I couldn't move it up/down or sideways. It was sort of locked in position.
As said above, it was the shoulder bone tearing through the ligaments that causes future issues. Looking at the way Tom walked off with his arm down by his side, hopefully means that the shoulder didn't come out that far, and maybe even went straight back in.
I know Shay given did his a while ago, but that looked a lot more serious, as he was stretchered off with an oxygen mask.
It's the worst possible injury for a goalie, I can only pray that his shoulder didn't go out that far and he can strengthen it back up again quite quickly.
The worst thing is not the 3 months he'll be out, but how it could affect him psychologically, especially if he does it again in the future

I wouldn't worry about his mental state when back. Dyche takes care of his players not a chance he will play until he's ready.

Re: Heaton
I played at being a goalkeeper whilst at Uni.
I played for the Mechanical Engineers even though I was a poncy Law student.
Unusually, I once made a save but, upon landing with a straight arm, I suffered one of those 'Anterior' dislocations.
Stuck on my back, screaming with pain, my Centre Half who was more of a Rugby Union player decided to pull me to my feet using the dislocated limb.
Big crunching sound and it went back into place. Bonus ?
Weeks of Physio to repair the tendon, muscle and ligament damage.
To be honest, I wouldn't have been any worse in the nets if I had never been able to use my arm again.

Re: Heaton
Just over three years ago our youngest son aged 8 dislocated his left shoulder.
Since then he has dislocated both his shoulders and both his knees on hundreds of occasions.
Following a referral from a specialist on Harley St we were put in touch with a physio who specialises in shoulder dislocations and we spent two years visiting her at Royal Liverpool Hospital. She spends most of her time travelling the world educating physios and is brilliant. She works with Man Utd and Liverpool with these type of injuries and she is absolutely excellent.
We are all guessing as to the seriousness of Tom's injury but if his shoulder came out forward that is a good sign.
Having spent a day every week for two years in a physio clinic in Liverpool I can now put my lad's shoulder and knee back in place within minutes after it dislocates I should have bobbed over the wall of the Bob Lord stand today and sorted him out.

I'm sorry to hear about your son, Tony. That must have been awful for him and hugely worrying for you and your wife.
Never like to see any player get injured let alone one of our own. Tom is one of our best players for years as well as being very popular with all Clarets.
Let's hope it's not too serious although I fear the worst.

Don't know if this has been mentioned because I haven't read all posts but did anyone notice that heaton scrambled to pick the ball up after dislocating his arm? He must have been in agony but his focus was getting the ball under control. Hero

I wonder if they have to wait for any bruising/swelling to go down before they can make a proper assessment?dermotdermot wrote:So is there any news? Is it as bad as thought or will he be back sooner?
Re: Heaton
If you have dislocated the shoulder, fractured the upper arm or the collar bone it will be known if not before a plain X-ray then afterwards, the soft tissue injuries would need an MR scan and maybe they would want to wait a few days to assess. If his shoulder was out it will already be back in place. It will take a tad longer to know how long he will be out of action
