It's a lovely town, Burnley

Post by CottonopolisClaret » Sun Sep 10, 2017 8:03 pm

Just bumped into 6 Norwegians wearing Claret and Blue going into their hotel in Manchester city centre. We got talking about the game. It was their first visit to the Turf. As I left them one said to me...It's a lovely town Burnley....

A town isn't just bricks and mortar. It's much more than that and whatever it has, and i suspect that it is its people impressed these very mature Norwegian men.

Are the Norwegians who started coming in the 80's still making the trip?

They used to say 'We love it in Burnley, everyone wants to get drunk and fight'.

Blackburn couldn't find a town that'd twin with it. So it entered a suicide pact with Beirut!!

I know Blackburn is twinned with Peronne France. Only found out when I happened to be in the French commune :)
