Feel sorry for Ben Mee
Feel sorry for Ben Mee
not sure why but last year his partner Keane got all the plaudits and a "dream" move
this year 4 games in and the so called weak link Tarks is getting all the plaudits
Yet Ben has in my opinion played extremely well just been himself and get's on with the job, not sure what he must think or say when he gets home and reads all hype around his partners, surely it is because he is there and does the hard work with no fuss. Seems to be the ultimate professional and I for one think he is very good and remember all the fuss about JS leaving to Derby and while not a direct comparison I feel we would suffer a much greater loss were Ben to move on.

I'd rather the attention be on someone else.
although it is very selfish of me, I don't really want him to move to a bigger club! (which he does deserve)

Absolutely top pro and club man.
Good in the air and total commitment. But he's League One with the ball on the deck...that's why he's not a Tark or a Keane.

Highly regarded by one pundit. Tony Gale reckons he's vastly underrated. Even said he deserved an England call up in one game. Not the most cultured defender but otherwise excellent were his words. Also was glowing in praise the other week for him, think it was the Spurs game.

A 27 year old, vice-captain and ever present of a Premier League football club, who also happens to be a millionaire?
And you feel sorry for him....
And you feel sorry for him....

As above. Every summary I've heard Tony Gale on he has been big on Ben Mee and quite right. Does his job and what more can you ask.

Not sure I agree with that. I think his distribution from the back has come on leaps and bounds over the last two years.fatboy47 wrote:...But he's League One with the ball on the deck...that's why he's not a Tark or a Keane.
Re: Feel sorry for Ben Mee
He definitely secured legendary status with fans after his sing-song about our friends down the road a number of hours after the Player of the Year Awards last season.
Thankfully, for him, the video seemed to disappear within days of it doing the rounds.

He was shocking in the first half v Palace but settled later.
He wasn't the only one.

Re: Feel sorry for Ben Mee
HE needs to give his cousin, who is a PE teacher at my daughters school some top tips.
Because the football teams are absolutely CRAP.......I have already had a word with Ben regarding this at the players evening, I think he needs to put the point over a little more strongly.
Backbone of our squad

He's made of strong stuff. Just ask Tom Heaton.
Re: Feel sorry for Ben Mee
The whole footballing CB is a load of old tosh!John stones (apparently) is the best footballing CB In the league, but he can't defend! The point is Ben mee throws is body on the line and tackles and blocks as good as anybody.Which is what a defender is meant to do right? Not rake 100 yard passes out wide are a through ball for a assist.Outstanding defender!

Re: Feel sorry for Ben Mee
Its no coincidence that Ben Mee has been alongside both Keane and Tarkowski when they have received the plaudits. People who know football recognise this.

Re: Feel sorry for Ben Mee
I think the total opposite. He was a very good footballer when he came from City but needed toughening up defensive wise, probably the reason he was put out to full back.bf2k wrote:Not sure I agree with that. Now a very good defensive player but his distribution isn't the required standard. I do think teams target this with marking all the other players and leaving Mee as the free option to receive the ball a lot.
Re: Feel sorry for Ben Mee
Ben Mee covered and organised Keane and does the same for Tarkowski. To give the others credit, they do their bit too.

He's king maker.
