Charlie Taylor

Post by Iloveyoubrady » Thu Sep 28, 2017 6:27 pm

How long before this lad breaks into the first team, or at least comes on off the bench. At the moment he isn't even on the bench, I feel he could make a decent attacking option as well as being useful to see out games by bringing on for a winger.

Bringing a defender on in midfield doesn't necessarily mean you will see out a game without conceding. He will have to be patient as ward is in fabulous form.

In the couple of games I've seen him play. He's got down the wing and crossed the ball. In a, dare I say it, Trippieresque way.

And what's not to like about that!?

I think it will take an injury to Ward before he gets his chance.

Id have him on the left of midfield to keep it simple by running to the byline and crossing the ball at every opportunity.

Taylor looks a real talent to me and i'm looking forward to him getting his break, seems more of a true wingback which is what we need. That said it's hard to dislodge Ward .Bang average though Ward is,he's an experienced pro and not unlike Scotty Arfield, makes up for middling ability with full on performances.

Superb going forward but a little concerning last week defensively. He will, I’m sure, prove to be a good signing but right now Ward is playing so well he picks himself.

I think he stands more of a chance of dislodging Brady than Ward tbh (and the chances of that are very slim, just if Brady has a serious loss of form)

Simples. Brady to the right wing or nr 10 and Taylor wide left, especially away.

Wards one of the first names on the team sheet just now.
Charlie will have to wait. Something I'm sure he was aware of, when he signed.
But hell, isn't it good having someone like him in the wings!

At a risk of hi-jacking the thread, I think the other side will see a change before wardy gives way to Taylor. Stephen ward has been superb for quite a while now, and fully deserves his starting place.

Not that lowton has done anything wrong, I just personally think he isn't as good a RB as Wardy is a LB. I also think that Bardsley is the better of the two RB's, and for me, he has shown how good he is when he's played.

Every PL home game we could of done with the extra attacking instincts of Taylor, I would keep Ward in for Everton but get Taylor in for West Ham.

Or at least bring Taylor on after 55 minutes to try and win games.

I can only see Taylor getting in wide left if we were to lose Brady and Scotty to injury.
As his crossing ability is better than both and I would hope his defending is, he is naturally a FB, he would have a chance to keep the shirt.

Taylor is being improved behind the scenes defensively with our framework in mind upon which time I expect him to be in.

If Ward continues playing the way he has done for such a long time now there's no way he should be replaced because he's been that good.

I can understand the argument that Taylor might be better going forward and putting crosses in than Ward, but hasn't anyone noticed that Ward is better at getting forward and putting in crosses than Brady, Arfield, JBG, Lowton...........

I like Taylor a lot, but Ward has to be injured or have a massive loss in form before he gets dropped imo.

Agree with some other posters that his best chance of a game appears to be as an attacking left half playing in front of Ward. If Brady plays on the right then the left position is 'up for grabs'. He has played for Leeds in a 4-2-3-1 formation so this is a definite option for SD to consider.

No way should he replace Ward however I would seriously consider playing him on the left side of midfield and move Ronnie Brady to the right side

Taylor was exposed by Leeds on occasions for pace and positioning, he isn't quite ready to step up yet.

He'll get his chance but I doubt it will be in Midfield.

He was exposed whereas at Blackburn, as an attacking left back, he was outstanding. I do know that the coaching staff are also confident he could slot in at centre half if required.

Ward is one of our biggest attacking threats and is solid as a rock defensively. I’m not sure what you’ve been watching if you describe him as bang average.

Taylor will have to bide his time.

Me neither, Ward is proving to be our best left-back since Keith Newton and I'd place those two and Alex Elder in the best three I've seen at Burnley.

Ward is good but to say he's one of our biggest attacking threats is just straight up deluded. That's probably his worst trait as he is limited when he is attacking. He's like Lowton in that he's got one good cross in three games. Both solid full backs but both limited when attacking.

Taylor got caught out for the Leeds goal because Burnley lost the ball in the midfield. He set off to get down the left a split second before we lost it. In the 89th minute when we are chasing the win against lower league opposition it was the right call, giving the ball away with a sideways pass in the midfield was the problem.

It's a squad game and we need to utilise the strength we have in certain areas. Lowton and Ward suit us well away from home because they suit the framework we have and offer good solid defensive cover. I feel like Bardsley and Taylor are more attack minded though and I wouldn't be upset to see both their names on the teamsheet at home vs clubs we want to get at a bit more. We need to create more chances and whether that comes through the middle of the park or out wide doesn't matter. The idea of having two full backs capable of getting down the wings and putting in quality crosses regularly is surely something Vokes and Wood would love to see?

Wow my argument is completely nullified since you showed me this single incident. Ward is clearly the best attacking fullback of all time. It's not like he only achieved one assist last season.

I disagree, for me Ward is one of our biggest threats in attack. A lot of our good moves go through him when he’s in an advanced position.

If anyone seriously thinks Ward is anything but "Bank Average" at prem level they must be either totally delusional or suffering some kind of breakdown .

He wouldn't get anywhere near another Prem starting line up ,he's slow , he gets turned inside out of fast wingers and only gets forward usually against weak sides.

He is however the best we currently have and wears claret and for that reason he'll always have my 100% backing on the pitch.

Some people really do need to be objective occasionally and removed their claret specs and giddy fanboy personnas

This is largely because you have seen them against weaker opposition when we had more of the ball. Lowton was up there with one of the highest numbers of 'chances created' in the league at some point last season.

Yes.
He gets in the right position more often than either of them, which is the by-line, and puts in a good delivery.
JBG and Brady, despite their ability, play far too negatively as a norm. On the few occasions when they don't, we transform into a really good team.
There's nothing more frustrating than seeing players in a position to cross the ball, spurning the opportunity just to pass it backwards.
So the question isn't wether they can cross the ball better, but do they.....
