Is Sean Dyche a Top 4 Manager??

Thats the debate on Talk sport this morning- i for one think he is and he will eventually leave the Clarets to manage a MAn utd for example.

It's starting to look that way. The only thing that might hold him back is the lack of attacking invention but with a bigger budget and better players he might surprise us.
The influence of his time under Brian Clough is coming through. He is just so in charge of every situation.

Moyes was considered a success at Everton working with limited resources and since his dream move to Man U his career has been on a downward spiral. I think SD is far more grounded and would do better than Moyes did but no guarantee even he would be a success.

The trouble is Sean Dyche needs TIME to implement his tactics and organise the team to get them all working together on the same page.....
The one thing the Premier league doesn't give you at all is time.....!

For him to move on to a top club I think he'd have to join them behind the scenes and not as manager and work with them for a year or so before taking over as manager which would give him the time needed to succeed.....

Top clubs (us aside) wouldn't have the patience for a real manager like SD ,though the money the likes of Everton (a proper club ) could offer Dyche will likely lead him away after this season .Hed never leave us mid season

I'd suggest SD himself would say he's still learning.
As has been mentioned above, patience isn't a commodity readily available for managers in the Prem.
SD seems to take the one game at a time thing on board for himself, as well as the team he sends out.
Bigger budgets bring different problems.
And the expectations demanded by bigger clubs is bloody huge!
Moyes did do a good job at Everton. Excellent, even, given the circumstances.
But wilted big style at Old Trafford and, it appears to have had a deeply negative effect on him.

SD's too grounded to want to try to run too quickly in the management merry-go-round.
We all know he'll leave at some point. Like as not to a bigger club.
Whether it's to a top four club, only time will tell.

I'm not sure Dyche would get time at a top 4 club. His method isn't one of instant turnaround, we know that. He's built Burnley gradually over 5 years, no manager would get that amount of time at any PL club never mind one established in the top 4

Imo sd is not 100% financially driven, I rather think it depends what else any prospective club brings to the table, just my opinion again but as long as we can pay him a realistic amount for his services and put enough on the table for him to progress each season then no need to move anywhere, imo he just prefers to carry on proving people wrong, keep up the good work Sean.

A club, possibly fans more-so than players would have to 'buy-in' to what he says.
He used the 'buy-in to what we are about' thing quite a lot when he started with us, and after a slow start, we did, wholeheartedly.
I'm not convinced many of the top 4 clubs would, the only one I could see being a fit for him is Chelsea, I don't know why, maybe because the rest would want 'attack attack attack' football and would hound out a manager if it didn't come quickly.

I'm still of the opinion he needs to learn to manager 'big name' players before he can be considered. Hopefully he'll get the chance to do that at Burnley, but the same 'big-names' are less likely to be attracted by signing for us (sad but true).

I have always had reservations about how some, if not most of the pampered overseas stars would react to his methods, I suspect not very well.
IF the high end players bought into his fitness demands and 'group ethic' he could create something akin to a runaway juggernaut, unstoppable!

I'm not sure if he is a bit too rustic for some of the foreign owners even though he is in the top 4 managers for interviews in my opinion.

A good comment regarding Clough though and I wonder if he may just take a Club from outside the big 4/5 with the right budget and challenge for honours. It won't be with us realistically but he could well do a 'Clough' elsewhere.

Mind you, he would need to step up the plate in the cup competitions, given his outstanding run of failure

I think JT claret has it right with the question of managing 'big names' how would SD have handled Van Dyke, Costa or Sanchez or any other prima donna types, it's not his style he works with grounded players very well.

I think his career opportunities are limited by his own success...

The "Top 6" wouldn't touch him - not exotic enough.

Many Premier League clubs (Palace, Hudds,Bournemouth, Brighton...) would , at the moment, be a career step backwards. West Ham would see him as Allardyce Mk 2. Watford he's been there...

I think there's only a handful that could offer him a step up in his career : Stoke, WBA, Everton & possibly Newcastle ( Ashley would love him, the fans less so ).

Personally I think that whilst he's making progress - and my word he is - he'll be happy to stay.

I think the top 5-6 clubs would prefer a manager with European experience. He'd be a big gamble for a club like Liverpool.

Not sure his 'strengths' (man management, team building, fierce player loyalty ect.) Would be that useful for a top 4 club whose squads are full of foreigners.

Would be ideal for England though.

Not top 4 as yet. It's only early October. Wait until May when Burnley finish in the Top 4 !!
