Re: FA cup 1st round draw
Rovers had better stay in it. They're the only lower league team we can beat.

Re: FA cup 1st round draw
It was purely an observation that not that long ago teams like Wigan, Portsmouth, a little further back Wimbledon and Coventry have all lifted the FA CUP, now they're having to start at round 1. Just a general musing at how fickle football can be. ldpinsussex wrote:Winners of what though?

Wouldn't fancy a coach trip to Truro. Some round trip that!

Some tasty stuff there. Shaw Lane. Do they play in the middle of a deadend street? Reminds me of Westfields playing in what looked like somebody's backyard last year.

Shaw Lane is on the way into Barnsley - about a mile from the town centre. I went there with 2 or all 3 of my kids a few seasons ago.
They did have a wealthy backer, but not sure now...they were called "Shaw Lane Aquaforce" then.
Their ground is tiny, really tiny, and you go through a cricket ground to get to it. It's also got Barnsley RUFC in the same sporting complex type set up.
I'm tempted to go back for the FA Cup, assuming they're not playing at Barnsley, or maybe Guiseley vs Accrington?!

Re: FA cup 1st round draw
I think that under modern FA rules that you're not allowed to move the venue any longer. If Shaw Lane is drawn at home, then that's where they'll play. Just like Sutton v Arsenal last year. Sutton would have made money by going to the Emirates, and they were going to lose anyways, but they weren't allowed to. Instead, their fat, idiot back-up keeper ate a pie on national TV, and made a killing.
