We're not as good as we think.

Post by ablueclaret » Mon Oct 23, 2017 9:20 am

We are a side based on the work ethic who are already looking laboured.
I fancy we have already hit our peak and are on a gentle slide down to the relegation zone.
From SD's point of view he must know that this is the ideal time to leave before reality sinks in.
Taylor and Westwood need integrating into this side for it is to become an effective footballing team, but upfront we have now have a serious problem.

Taylor and Westwood need integrating into this side
Could you be a bit more specific on which positions you would like them integrating into? I'm assuming it won't be left back and centre midfield respectively.

So who would you drop for Westwood? Defour? or maybe Cork? and you clearly advocate dropping probably our best defender in Steven Ward in favour of untried and tested Charlie Taylor?

Any chance you can shut the **** up with your sea of negativity and constant whiningly narcissistic posts?

Thanks in advance.

Did we lose at weekend? :o Must have. Here's Mr Happy to cheer us all up ! :D

You're just like an Indian Cobra, waiting in the undergrowth, striking at just the right moment.

But, you are right. We do have a serious problem. Let me guess what that is

The serious problem upfront that two of our strikers have minor muscle strains and we still have Barnes and Wells coming back

Superb fishing ABC.

When you're already 8th in the table, assuming we can't realistically fight for a top 6 position in the long term, then of course our trajectory is likely to be towards the relegation zone.

When you're already 8th in the table, having only lost 2 games so far having played away at Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool, Everton & Man City it's obvious to assume we have peaked.

It's easy to look more laboured against a side such as Man City with all their fantastic talent. It's also obvious that we will look more laboured at home against sides who now come to The Turf set up not to lose, especially following our home form last season & some of the results we have achieved this season. We need to try and address this, of course.

Reality is, we are 8th in the league after a pretty tough run of fixtures. Dyche is secure and getting a decent budget. The real reality is that the other clubs are more unstable and have higher (perhaps unattainable) expectations. One club in particular, sacked the manager who had led them to the league title a few months earlier. If winning the league does't give you some security then what will?

Ward, Cork & Defour have been our best players this season. Ward in particular is incredibly important to how we play, he's involved in so much. Taylor is untested at this level, and will be integrated over time, maybe like Tarks was last season. Westwood will have to wait because the other central midfielders are playing brilliantly so far.

Yes, he seems to have gone back to his old way of posting to try and be controversial. Keep suggesting things that won’t happen.

He panicked over the summer and stopped putting as much thought in which led to all his bans.

Currently I'd say we're deserving of sitting 8th. A couple of games coming up that gives us a great chance of consolidating our position.

So far, pretty sure we can say we're quite good.

Were doing ok whats all the fuss about? we certainly wernt expecting anything from the city game, before that we looked rock solid, as for sliding down the table into the relegation zone, i dont think we will end up anywhere near, ok, we may struggle to score a lot of goals but if we stick to game plans as we always seem to do,we will be ok. we are short of pace i know but we still create chances, have faith you doubters, we will be playing premiership football for years to come. utc

It's already been said that Wood won't be out for long. I think Tony posted that he could be fine for the next game. So how do we suddenly have a serious problem upfront? Wells will no doubt feature soon, too, so if anything we're now better with more options.

We've played most of the toughest games we can do this season. Liverpool, City, Spurs, Everton, Chelsea. All away. If you could write down the hardest games at the start of the season, they would feature on everybody's list. They're now done. Man U and Arsenal are the only away games left where we'd expect to come away without any points.

ABC you don't know how good I think we are so you can't really comment!

Clearly we are unlikely to finish 8th. I think we are good enough to avoid the drop.

Don't really care what you think.

There is very little between any of the 'rest of the league'. It can be all down to who gets the luck on the day. No one is safe.

Oh hang on ... hmm ... how many times have we been beaten?

We have nothing upfront at all besides Wood, Ashley Barnes is absolutely dreadful he cant even score regularly at Championship level yet some on here think he's amazing.

I think we're a tad better than we were last season and have acquitted ourselves
well this season especially away from home.

That's progress but doesn't mean we necessarily think we are a top 8 team
even though we're eight at present.
I'd be more than pleased if we manage to stay in the top eight
but would be more than happy if we just manage stay up again.

If we can stay relatively injury free for the next couple of months
and bring in one or two in January then there's a good chance of us staying up and improving
on our position last season.

I do expect us to have a 'bad patch' and it may well be next month
when 3 or 4 of our players will be involved in two extra games for their countries.
Wood will be doing some serious traveling for New Zealand.

Dyche has been more flexible with our formation this season and we do look better with 3 in midfield
albeit we look a little short of goals up front.
Defour back in the team and putting in some decent performances has been a huge bonus
especially as most thought he'd be off in the summer.
Hopefully Wells can make an impact too as Wood up front on his own
is probably asking a lot even though he looks as if he has risen to the challenge.
Defensively we couldn't have hoped for much better especially after losing Keane and
now our captain and goalkeeper.

So all in all more than a good start but nobody (Dyche, nor the fans)
is getting ahead of themselves.

I'm certainly not
