It's good to have others in the race for Gladys Street but our Sean is still second favourite, behind David Unsworth. Fingers crossed.
Re: Tuchel Everton....phew!
Fans probably want Unsworth, who is Everton through and through. Shareholder probably wants a big continental name, to go with the £140m spend. Either way, our man drops down the list. Phew!

Fans want Unsworth. Kenwright wants Unsworth. All very well until they get spanked in their next 2 games....
Major Shareholder Moshiri wants a big name.
It seems only the media want Dyche at the minute, long may that continue.

Our man hasn't dropped down the list at all - he remains second favourite behind David UnsworthIanMcL wrote:Fans probably want Unsworth, who is Everton through and through. Shareholder probably wants a big continental name, to go with the £140m spend. Either way, our man drops down the list. Phew!

It's quite surprising that so many Evertons fans want Unsworth in despite his lack of experience.cutsy123 wrote:Unsworth ive heard is the man they want in.
Their youth team has been quality though and maybe they are hoping he'll facilitate more youngsters breaking through.
He is a great guy though and i' d love him to get the job on a permanent basis. Another big plus being that they wouldn't be taking Dyche away from us!

It's only like a lot of our fans are hoping Duff becomes our manager one day.
Tuchel or Ancellotti would be the best for Everton in regards to attracting the best foreign players. Dyche only really shops in the championship.

I can see Unsworth getting the job until summer, with Dyche being in the frame to take over then. The timing would probably suit a lot of the parties involved. Except us of course!

In terms of a big name Unsworth and Tuchel both have more letters than Dyche.

Unsworth has picked a strange team tonight for a man who will only have a few games to make his claims for the job.

If Dyche did go to Everton, would Unsworth be a reasonable shout for Burnley????

I could have sworn that he took charge of the first team for a game after Cotterill left and before Coyle arrived but can find no mention of it anywhere. Perhaps he was just assistant to Steve Davis.scouseclaret wrote:If Dyche did go to Everton, would Unsworth be a reasonable shout for Burnley????

Everton played with spirit last night. Good sign for keeping our genius.

Would certainly be a massive change on the touchline if Dyche was replaced by Duff.Quickenthetempo wrote:It's only like a lot of our fans are hoping Duff becomes our manager one day.

Re: Tuchel Everton....phew!
It was at Leicester. He wasn't in charge but he was in the dug out with Davis because he was suspended for that game. He'd been wrongly sent off by Chris Foy in the game against Hull on the previous Tuesday and almost immediately they got their winner with a headed goal from a set piece.dermotdermot wrote:I could have sworn that he took charge of the first team for a game after Cotterill left and before Coyle arrived but can find no mention of it anywhere. Re: Tuchel Everton....phew!
I like him a lot, and he definitely appears to know how to develop young players. However, he would be a massive risk. He has an affinity to the Everton fans and an understanding of that club inside out. That gives him a bit of a head start. He wouldn't have that here, and Dyche would be a ridiculously hard act to follow.scouseclaret wrote:If Dyche did go to Everton, would Unsworth be a reasonable shout for Burnley????
If Unsworth doesn't get it this time, but still has a desire to become a manager, presumably he'd have to look for jobs elsewhere (maybe championship), and earn his spurs.
I like Unsworth in interviews. Unpolished, but genuine and passionate. Probably one of the reasons he's got the backing of a lot of Evertonians.

He's put himself in a difficult position should he not get the job. Yes, he could carry on as U23 coach but he's now said he's ready to manage.

Re: Tuchel Everton....phew!
I guess that was him trying to convince people he is ready for that main role. I know that he desperately wants it, and that he has the backing of Kenwright. These next few games are crucial. Continues to get the fans support, picks up a couple of wins, and I think a short term contract till the end of the season may be the answer. He'd really have to bring them round to convince Farhad that he is the right long term option though.ClaretTony wrote:He's put himself in a difficult position should he not get the job. Clever move to try and bring Barkley round. That would really showcase his man management skills.

Re: Tuchel Everton....phew!
The company where I work have this lunchtime held a book signing session with Ian Callaghan and Graeme Sharp. I asked Sharp about Dyche being linked to Everton and his reply was we don't want Sean Dyche. I had to smile when I replied good, he's better off where he is.
