Annabellas on a Tuesday night in for a penny before 11pm, packed out. Happy days!
Thursday night in the Angels was also a favourite for me.

Spot on Chester !
Get yourself a nice L'Uomo jumper from Oggi aswell and some Spencer trousers from the market. Brogues with segs put on at bus station cobblers - is it any wonder there was a queue of women begging to dance with you when George Benson "in your eyes" came on ?!!!!

It was crap. Worked as a glass collector for a year in '78. Only good thing about it was getting as many free shots in as I could after putting the boards up on the downstairs bar and then joining everyone else up stairs for the staff 'free drink'. Owner was a decent chap though .... can't remember his name ... Paul something or other ... lived in Padiham.

Maybe it was crap being there as glass collector.
But as young a guy/girl looking for a good night clubbing it was great.
As plenty have said already, the Angles had a great reputation for miles around.

Nowt wrong with the Baltic.Have you ever been in Ontario?
Duke Bar used to be a good night out in the 80s . Shame all the pubs have shut down. The area has changed so much.
I used to like the Angels befor it changed to a rave club..

I think he was called Paul Simon ... seem to remember he had the look of Jason King (Peter Wyngarde ??) ... now there was a fashion look - velvet jacket, cuffs over the sleeve and flares - the business!!

Might that have been the Dog and Partridge up on the moor above Cornholme. Nobody ever called it the D&P, it was known locally as the Sourhall because that was where it was, or sometimes Pedro's as the guy who owned it had a Mexican look about him, even thought he was from Tod and called Sutcliffe!
Other late night pubs/nightspots down the valley included the Top Brink at Lumbutts, the Bay Horse at Cross Stone and the Shepherds up above Walsden.
