What a defence
Ours is so good that despite scoring only 15 goals ( inc 3 at Chelsea in first game) we still have a massive 28 points,
We have conceded just 12 goals in 16 games (0.75 per game) and that includes Arsenals cheating penalty.
Yesterday we started with only 2 of our first choice back 5 and still stopped a prolific Watford from scoring ( first time they have failed to score at least 2 away from home).
We have won 5 games 1-0
We have played 4 of the top 6 away from home
Prior to today`s Manchester derby we have conceded the third fewest goals in the Premier League with only United (9) and City (11) conceding less but both have played a game less.
Oh and we kept a clean sheet at Deadwood.

Re: What a defence
There was a link on here a while ago explaining our defensive success.
Really good read and at the home game afterwards I paid more attention to what our defenders did and it appeared to be right in regards to positioning etc.
Defending is an art just as much as attacking and it's always worth seeing a solid defensive display.

Re: What a defence
I was looking before and we’ve only conceded 8 goals from open play in 16 games which is bettered only by Mourinhos United. Phenomenal.

Re: What a defence
We are now tied second best defence with City on 12 goals conceded. United just 1 better with 11. How amazing is that ?

I hear that Trumpthechump has asked if they can go to the US if not shielding England's goal. Mission... don't let any Mexican's past.

Re: What a defence
Best defence in the Prem, and that coming from Mee (Man Citys' youth team), Tarkowski (Brentford, Championship), Lowton (Villa's reserves), Ward (Wolves, Championship).
Proof if it were needed, Dyche is a genius.

No stars and maximise the squad by drilling them in the team ethos.

Re: What a defence
It's all down to organisation.
We are spoilt to be honest, but have any of you got into the habit of judging the goals in other premiership matches, and thinking.... he's out of position......what happened to the back line..... why the hell did he want to dive in there for.......why didn't he just show him the outside.
6-6 draws are exciting, but watching Burnley defend is also a joy. An art form that appears to have by-passed so many top managers.
I love Tarks and Mee, but I think both would struggle to play for England, in a system that isn't designed to their talents, much as Keane has at Everton. Not that neither are good enough, just that whoever gets picked would struggle.

As Phil Neville said on MOTD a few weeks ago "these boys love defending".

Re: What a defence
I love watching our defensive work, the level of discipline is amazing.TheFamilyCat wrote:As Phil Neville said on MOTD a few weeks ago "these boys love defending".
I'm a bit of a football nerd, I watch passages of play over and over (thanks to Clarets player), our work as soon as we lose the ball is an object lesson.
